Windows registry editor does not respect system-wide font settings

I disappointingly found out that in Windows 11 the Windows Registry editor does not respect the Windows font settings. Instead it has its own font picker dialog and defaults to Sagoe IU 10 pt. Of course, one can set it to a different font, like my system setting, Tahoma 8 pt (screenshot below), but it cannot be set to automatically follow the systemwide theme settings.

I wonder, is this the new policy of Microsoft that each application should have its own font settings and there would be no unified look any more?

You can use the attached batch script to change the default system font in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

I would think having "more" customization options, would be a "good" thing.
Honestly, my major complaint with Windows later versions is the "lack" of customization options.

I don't know, but in Windows 8.1 it used the system font by default, so I did not even check if it had a font picker.

I can speculate that this is done for the case that someone made system font not readable.
I would think having "more" customization options, would be a "good" thing.

There is no option to make it respect system settings though.

It "does" respect system settings, until you start changing them.
Then I assume Microsoft decided, that if you weren't happy with the OOBE system settings, you probably wouldn't be happy with various program settings as well?

My point here is... there is so many things in Windows 11 that DO need rebelling against, why worry about this issue?
Let's fix the BIG issues first. Then we can all go to Redmond Washington and complain about respecting system font settings.

/edit

I'm not trying to be facetious. But your option is... move to the Insider channel, and use their complaints dept., or w/e it called to complain about respecting system fonts.
I honestly don't think it ever entered MS's mind that someone would rather have all programs respect system fonts.
I think they thought that most people would desire the opposite.

Question: You aren't using any 3rd party programs like those that affect File Explorer or the Start Menu or the Taskbar?

I could be wrong as the old memory is not what it used to be but I can't recall any version of Windows where the system font (or font size) was universal across all apps. Some applications are hard-coded to use a particular font. In those cases, the application font takes priority over the system font. Same goes for some web pages that are designed to use a particular font.

People who prefer more conservative look rarely will go Insider. Particularly, I need ExplorerPatcher, which is not supported in Insider.
I think, this makes the Microsoft's feedback biased against such people.

Well, you definitely can code a program that uses specific font, but the sytem font settings and theme are existing exactly so that programs that do not need special fonts and appearance for some good reason did not need individual adjustments per application. You set the font type and size and they affect most of software, there were even themes intended for blind people with big fonts and contrast colors.

In Windows versions Win95-WinXP Microsoft's own desktop programs respected system's font settings.

I want to reiterate, that I am not against an option to individually set fonts per application, I am against the absence of option to make the application to use system default font.

I just spent about an hour playing with fonts, etc.
I don't think it's possible to have the system font(s) control the registry font.

If a font is hard-coded into an app, your complaint should be with the application and those that designed it, not Windows and MS.
