Hello Win11 helpers! I love you! <3

This all started when I tried to download Minecraft to play with a friend. After paying and downloading the Mojang downloader, they redirected me to the Microsoft store downloader. The Microsoft Store appears to not allow me to download Minecraft, any of the additional Xbox apps, nor apps that I have tried to uninstall and reinstall. I have tried all of the support options from other forums, including downloading the Win11 ISO and attempting a reinstall. No dice. It appears to me that some setting on the device is blocking the store from communicating with the download server for the store. This is what I have tried so far:
- Removed the windows store completely, and reinstall using the powershell code.
- Removed all windows store apps manually, then reinstalled the entire pack using the powershell code.
- Completed a "Clean Boot" of Win11, with no change. Same error.
- Completed SFC/scannow, as well as the DISM commands.
- Reset & Restore the windows store via the built-in troubleshooter.
- Run the NETSH codes via CMD & Powershell to reset winsock & DNS settings.
- Run the Win11 ISO to reinstall Windows11 without losing programs & data.

Last option to me sounds like a full wipe and reinstall, but I don't want to do that since this PC is mainly used for my work. Would rather not wipe everything to play Minecraft with a friend for a few hours. Does anyone know why the Store would be working perfectly, except for the connection to the download servers? Why does it work on 2 of my old machines that run windows 10, but not this one which runs windows 11? (Same internet connection, so it can't be my router settings.) Specs are listed in my account details.

Any thoughts or ideas are very much appreciated! Thank you!!

Thank you, JAM83, I appreciate the suggestion. Updates are on and work perfectly. Windows store appears to be working as well, just not with downloads. The store updates, shows me what I have installed and what I'm missing, just cannot connect to the MS Store downloading server. Its super weird.

Well Bastett, this is the most "change" that I have seen yet, LOL!!

Unfortunately, whatever my error is, the line "icacls "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps" etc etc etc", bricked all of my windows apps. Now I get a popup that says I don't have permission... Powershell is now broken and wont open. Microsoft store wont open either. I don't think that this happened because of your recomendation: i think that something else was really broken, and this just made the error worse.

Will try reinstalling Window 11 again. Bleh. LOL!

Thank you all!

Alright gang, problem solved!

Bastett's suggestion to reset permissions exposed how broken the OS truly was. Once I ran it, the permissions for the computer pretty much "bricked". I then tried to soft reinstall Win11 (ISO, "install Win11, but leave apps and files"), which didn't fix anything. Then I installed Win11 again, using the selection "keep files". This install of Win11 had a fresh version of permissions, of the Windows Store, and of all apps. This was the solution to fix my problem.

To anyone reading this in the future: a broken version of Windows11 is sometimes best fixed by reinstalling the OS, not trying to fix it again and again. If you have tried EVERYTHING, like I have, reinstalling the OS is the final step. Do it. Stop looking for suggestions.

Thank you to all my helpers!!

What are you trying to download - most, if not all, stuff available from the Store is available elsewhere, usually directly rather than through the virtual 3rd party Microsoft Store.

I despair sometimes of users reliance on the Store as the absolute be-all and end-all source, just because it's Microsoft and it came with Windows. Time to think outside the square.

Glad you got it sorted out man. I always just reinstall the operating system fresh. I have it to erase everything. Yes, reinstalling software takes a a bit of time, but I get it done. .

Thanks for the update. It does sound as though Windows is in need of a clean install. Glad to hear you’ve done this & all is working now.Once everything is set up as it was I would certainly consider disk imaging software If you don’t already use it.
