I think this happened after the yesterday's update! I got whatsapp few days ago without signing in with MS account.
But today there is no way for me to get anything from the store without signing in. Is this normal?

I just tried it on my Win11 and appears no issue in downloading, no login. It's interesting that I'm using my Win11 Notebook as Local Account Adminstrator [no login set yet] and a portion of my initials show in the top bar of the store window.

Yes, Microsoft has apparently changed that.

Alternatively, if you want to download an app that does not require a fee, you could use this website:

Copy the link for the app from the Microsoft Store to the clipboard, paste it in the search box, select Retail Channel and then click on ✔️.

When downloading a app, make sure that you choose the package that matches your processor architecture and that the package has an appx or msixbundle filename extension.

@Berton

But you are logged into the store itself as you can see in the screenshot.

I signed out and closed the Store then went back in without signing in, no problem. On the one that shows me signed in I had Outlook.com open at the same time and it must have picked up my E-Mail account name. I'd seen mentioned such a thing happening awhile back with telemetering.

Did you also click on "Get" to download? For me I can enter the store and when I click on get , it asks me to login. there is no option to bypass.
