I have a Surface Pro 8. I went to get it from my bag last night and it was red hot to the touch. I tried turning it on and the battery was totally dead.
I believe, for some reason, the device decided to turn itself on (even though it was on battery...) and try and update.
Unfortunately it seems like something must've gone horribly wrong during that update and it update-looped or something over and over, almost frying the device in my bag and also draining the battery all the way to 0.
The device still turns on but I can't update windows anymore. When I try to update to "windows 11 cumulative update KB5018490" I get error "0x800f0831 CBS_E_STORE_CORRUPTION".
Google says I am missing a package that I can download from microsoft, however it looks like I am literally missing every single package from my logs (see attached).
Should I just write this installation off and re-install windows? Or do you think I can salvage it somehow?
