I have two of those updates waiting for a reboot. I have to give them a try in a little while and see what they do.

Have you tried uninstalling those updates? In the past, I had one bad update. I was able to uninstall it and then reinstall it. After that, it worked fine. But that was a long time ago.

Hi there
try re-installing the Windows boot loader from booting up an ISO / Winpe system -->repair windows->command prompt

then bcdboot.exe

If you don't like command line boot Macrium stand alone recovery usb / iso and go into fix windows boot problems. (Macrium is free ).

To use bcdboot in this case : (assuming you are in command mode either from winpe or an install iso).

1) Diskpart
2) list disk
3) select disk nn (nn is your Windows disk)
4) list vol (this should list the partitions on the disk and the hidden efi partition
5) select vol xx (this is the hidden efi partition)
6) assign letter=S
7) select vol YY where yy is the Windows main partition if it's not already assigned a letter
8) assign letter=W
exit

assume letters S and W are assigned as above

cd :\W:\windows\system32
cd w:\ do this to check the directory is windows\system32 from the right windows system -- not the winpe / iso.
bcdboot w:\windows /s S: /f UEFI (note ist s is a small "s")

exit
now re-boot. It should work properly now unless your whole system is hosed up. !!!

Well, I did reboot to install the first two on your list. I don't have the third one. And, yes, I did have a few problems. It seemed to reboot fine and everything came up except for Chrome. Chrome usually restarts with all the tabs I originally had opened. This time, it did not. None of the tabs that I had opened were listed in the Chrome history. I hate it when it does that.

Then, while I was resetting things up, I got the BSOD with a message saying that "Something went wrong". But it shut down so fast that I couldn't read the message. After it shut down, and everything shut off, I restarted it. The laptop came up kind of funny, but everything seemed to work. Still no joy with Chrome.

I don't know where those messages are stored so I don't know what went wrong.
