I just installed Windows 11 and I did the updates and all went well except one. The one that failed and I retried to install numerous times is Windows Subsystem for Linux Update-5.10.60.1. It gives an error code of 0x80070643

Perform an SFC scan. An SFC scan can detect and fix corrupted system files on a computer. To run a scan, open the Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow then press Enter.

f your computer is not automatically downloading the latest updates, Microsoft allows users to download standalone update packages from the Microsoft Catalog website easily and anytime they’re available. While your computer automatic updates isn’t working, you can temporarily begin downloading and installing updates yourself until Windows Updates issues are resolved and working again. You will need a KB (Knowledge Base) number of the Windows update you wish to download and install. Almost all Windows updates come with a KB number. Use that KB number to download the specific updates for your computer, and the steps below will show you how to do that.

To manually download a particular update, get the package KB number and head over to the link below.

There, use the search box and type in the KB number, then click the search button. The page will return the specific package matching the KB number.

For example, here’s the latest KB number (KB5006674) for Windows Oct. 12 updates.

Once the file is downloaded, go to your Downloads folder and double-click it to initiate the install. When you run the installer, The Windows Update Standalone Installer will prepare the system for installation which might take some time.

I ran the update repair and also did the SFC check all was good. This is a Linux thing and no KB number assigned to it. I'll probably never use Linux so would it hurt to not worry about it, the other updates did OK. I went to Programs and Features and turned Linux off and the update problem for now is gone.
