Windows 11
I am trying to set Windows Media Player to be the default .mov player in Adobe Bridge 2023.
To do so, I need access to C:\Program Files\WindowsApps
First problem: "You don't currently have permission to access this folder."

I click "Continue" and come to the next problem. "You have been denied permission to access this folder." Click on the security tab.

I get the next message:
2023-11-10 10_05_02-WindowsApps Properties.png
I click on "Advanced."

It looks to me like I do have access:

Then it tells me that something is corrupt:

How do I delete what needs to be deleted and create a new one?

Summary:
Bridge 13.03.693 can't open WindowsApps folder and thus can't select Windows Media Player as a default viewing app for .mov files.
Windows v 22H2 build 22621.2428

Thanks!

you'll have to take full ownership of the whole folder, do your task(s) and then set the owner back to Trusted Installer.

you cant right click a .mov file, change the program there and set the default to WMP, apply and close?

Thank you very much, the video definitely helped and resolved the same issue I had

Question: Would it be OK if ownership isn't returned back to trusted?

In general, you should not mess with the permissions. Instead, use a tool such as PowerRun whenever you need TrustedInstaller access.

I left myself as the owner of WindowsApps, in Oct. 2021
I haven't noticed any problems.

BUT... I use backup software, and I very rarely take ownership of anything.

You can also add "Take Ownership" to your right click context menu... but you have to use it VERY sparingly.
As mentioned above... unless there's no other way... you should return ownership to whatever it was before.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?

Thank you again

As a rule of thumb after installation I enable Administrator – rename for unrestricted access while I have standard user for day to day work playing safe
