OK, I am confounded. New PC: Dell OptiPlex Micro, Windows 11 Pro just purchased from Micro Center. Initial Windows startup process completed. Logged in under my Microsoft ID. All seems well.

Started attempting to make some changes to the PC.

OK, that is what I thought might be the case. So I went into Group Policy and found that nothing had been changed there. As a final solution, I reset my new PC. Reset, meaning the entire OS (Windows 11 PRO) was again downloaded and installed. I have to start over and setup the PC from scratch. Logged in, same thing still happens. Do not understand how that is possible......

Usually, resellers wipe business mobile workstations/laptops.

That doesn't always happen and you have to reset it yourself.

You'll have to do a clean install. That means wiping everything and installing a fresh copy of Windows.

Can you open system information and export it and upload it here?

Wait, did you accidently log into your microsoft account that was associated with a work account in any way?

welp based off of that you did not buy a new computer and need to take it back to the store. While you could clean install windows I would just take it back and get a new one. Especially because things like this could have bios features or other things customized. At my job one time we purchased a new pc and it came loaded with software and the OS intended for another company instead of us. Windows was forced to use their domain server to activate windows and it wasnt possible to bypass it without a lot of work, and the bios was customized and highly unusual.

Look at the device name. I highly doubt you named it security pc

ah okay, well for a brand new computer for use at home as you described I did not expect you to name it that then.

Follow these clean windows install directions and see what happens:

It is possible if you did the reset with the local reinstall that it retained the corruption. Clean installing with a flash drive will be a fresh install, and you shouldn't have that issue any further.

The key is stored in the bios, you don't need it. No PC you buy has the windows key on a sticker or box or anywhere. It has been like that for awhile. It will activate. Just follow the clean install directions, and make sure to Pick windows 11 pro if asked. More than likely it will not prompt you what edition to choose and it will just install the edition the key is for.

If it doesn't detect the product key at time of install, you can choose that you don't have one and once you choose the windows edition you have, and get connected to the internet it should activate.
