Hasleo Backup Suite

yes, on a System restore that last screen may not be necessary, but if so it should be clearer what is expected for the user to do. thanks for doing what you can to support this fine program!
I can’t fathom the hoops and understanding needed to use something that should be a simple process, click and backup (Like the old Win 7 system image backup) This thread and others like it (Macrium especially) have done nothing but ward me off even loading or attempting to use them)

although that last screen either seems to be unnecessary or I don't understand it's need, the program otherwise is pretty straight forward. I was just experimenting with a bunch of other software just to see if I like it or is useful. Some was, some wasn't, but I don't want some of the programs or their remnants on my computer so I just did a Hasleo restore. It was FAST and flawless.

@Froggie that last screen still had the one partition highlighted, but I left everything as was and presses Restore and it.... restored.

Well that’s good, and also how it should be.
Well... I spoke too soon. The backup restored perfectly, but I booted from the Emergency Disk (thumb drive) and it didn't ask for the backup password I assigned. It is the same with the boot stick made from the release and the beta. While in Windows and the Hasleo program, any reference to the backup does require the password (if one was set), but not if you boot from the emergency Disk.

Also, being a beta, I do not see a feedback option in the program to report problems.

I emailed the support address on their website. They seemed friendly and responsive. They indicated the no password on the Emergency Disk was intentional in some cases, but also agreed it could be an issue if someone actually took my computer. It was unclear, but they are looking into it.

Also that 3rd restore screen, they think maybe some wording on the screen will help like "You can also resize your partition now OR press Proceed to complete your restore".

The other tip that should be considered is to not install a beta version if what you really want is the tested, stable regular version, or complications can result leading to a plea for help and lots of follow-up posts.:star:

On the other hand a beta version is expected to have some bugs and quirks. Feedback from users helps the author fine tune a program to create a release version.

Thanks for sharing that you do not use beta versions of software. "The other tip that should be considered" is that the beta process is what leads to the software that you do use.

Having Delta Restore in a free version is a serious differentiator to all other free versions.

I will try some tests of the Beta version and compare with Macrium Reflect Delta Restore when I get a chance.

Although there are some aspects of Hasleo that I dislike, I would be more willing to recommend this tool just for Delta Restore.

As I have 9 Reflect licences, I doubt I will ever move to Hasleo in near future but maybe down the line if V9 Reflect becomes lease only when released.

In all fairness, My C drive only has Windows and programs, no data. I've been using LibreOffice and wanted to try OpenOffice. The only change the restore had was to make the C drive pre-OpenOffice, so not too many changes, BUT it is cool that it's available and it was lightning fast!

@cereberus , I'm curious, what aspects of Hasleo Backup Suite do you dislike? I know many don't like the current File'n'Folder interface for file restoration (mounted partitions are coming). I'm a REFLECT user and I don't have a lot of problems with HBS, especially at its v4Beta#3 stage.

My main gripe is if you do a partition backup, you can either restore 1 partition at a time or all of them but you cannot restore say 3 out of 4.

I have 5 partitions on main drive (4 usual partitions plus a data partition (data that does not change)). I backup say all 5, but if I want to restore the first four, I have to do all four separately. You cannot restore 4 out of five in one go.

In the end, the gui is pretty basic and somewhat inflexible, and you have to faff around to do what Reflect will do in one go.

Having said that, the Hasleo interface is probably more intuitive for beginners but conversely inflexible for more experienced users.

Despite that Delta Restore for a free version is a significant development.

I cannot see my NVME drives in winpe mode despite adding my IRST drivers during winpe set up as requested.

The first time I did not add them and I went to rebuild the wim file but there is no option to do that (as far as I could tell). I had to uninstall Hasleo, reinstall and rebuild boot usb.

I never had this issue with official version.

I shall try injecting drivers using dism. If that fails, I am gubbed.
