  1. Am I screwed? Bitlocker

Well, even after trying to run a data recovery tool especially for bitlocker, I've had no luck. Time to Nuke. So glad I back up the important stuff. Thank for the help.
  2. Am I screwed? Bitlocker

It certainly can't protect against somebody that has legitimate access such as a sysadmin, it is designed to protect from unauthorized external access when the PC is either offline or locked.
  3. Am I screwed? Bitlocker

I can only wish it were that simple. The recovery key is purely numeric.
  4. Am I screwed? Bitlocker

I use it for security. If somebody runs off with my PC they can't get into anything private. As for cloud storage, it is certainly worth it to use for either backups or multi-location use, but I'm referring to protecting a whole drive rather than wanting portable data.
  5. Am I screwed? Bitlocker

I Don't have access to another PC right now, I've just tried following a tutorial using dislocker on Linux but it complains that the header can't be read. I think I'm FUBAR. At least everything important has been regularly backed up.
  6. Am I screwed? Bitlocker

Hello. I ran Bitlocker on a boot partition, everything went fine, I recorded the recovery key. When restarting my PC the Windows bootloader went into recovery mode requesting the backup key. I entered it but received a message saying that I had used the wrong key. I've tried every method to...
  7. Why do Windows 10/11 feature updates recreate the Boot Configuration Database (BCD)?

Hello folks, I have a multiboot twin Windows 11 system. I've configured everthing so that both installations don't interfere with one another and I moved the EFI partition to a dedicated SSD to keep it partitioned away from anything else. For some reason, Every time there is a major update...
  8. Solved FYI ASUS sound cards now function correctly on 22H2.

No idea why they didn't to begin with, could never find details.
  9. Different boot times for dual Windows 11 installations on same PC

Thank you very much for your answer. That actually strikes me as a bizarre decision given that I always assumed that the bootloader would be an independent component of the boot process and that having it interact with the OS (or multiple OSs) would violate the ideas of compartmentalisation and...
  10. Sound card driver incompatible with Windows 11

Oops... I should have mentioned that I have read the post on this specific issue, what I'm curious about is what fundamental difference exists between Windows 10 and 11 that would cause this.
  11. Different boot times for dual Windows 11 installations on same PC

Hi folks. I've successfully installed and isolated two installations of Windows 11 on my PC. One for work (Pro) and one for games (Home). I've moved the EFI partition to its own dedicated drive and removed the original and things work flawlessly. I've disabled Fast Startup, and disabled the...
  12. Sound card driver incompatible with Windows 11

Hello. I have an ASUS Xonar AE sound card. After installing Windows 11 a substantial portion of its functionality has stopped. The card has a great feature that allows you to plug in both speakers and headphones simultaneously and simply click an icon to select where you want the audio sent...
  13. Is it possible to multi-boot two installations of Windows 11 without complications and filesystem corruption?

To hell with it. I'll do it. I've got dick imaging software so I'll take a backup or three.
