Am I screwed? Bitlocker

Could you be mistaking an o for a zero?
You can access that help on a smartphone you know.
I can only wish it were that simple. The recovery key is purely numeric.

Bitlocker doesn't stop a corporate employee from copying a file from a bitlocker drive to a USB key when the drive is booted up and unlocked.
It certainly can't protect against somebody that has legitimate access such as a sysadmin, it is designed to protect from unauthorized external access when the PC is either offline or locked.

Well, even after trying to run a data recovery tool especially for bitlocker, I've had no luck. Time to Nuke. So glad I back up the important stuff. Thank for the help.

I use it for security. If somebody runs off with my PC they can't get into anything private. As for cloud storage, it is certainly worth it to use for either backups or multi-location use, but I'm referring to protecting a whole drive rather than wanting portable data.
The odds of someone running off with a home computer are slim. I don't even password protect anything, not even my phone or tablet. I understand why some people do, but for me, passwords are annoying as hell. lol

I have been fracked up by full disk encryption solutions (native and external) a few times in all the mayor OSes. I use veracrypt to make a file with the important stuff there... No problems so far.

Most companies I work for now lockdown usb drive access.

Even emailing company files to a personal email address is monitored and you can get disciplined for breach of IT Rules.
