Windows 11 Home 26H2 26300.9457

Recently installed 26H2 on PC.

However, after going to Windows Update when the PC restarted, it informed me that '2026-09 Preview Update KB5124010 (26300.9550) is available'.

What's going on ? Why is telling me this ? I thought KB5124010 was a preview to 26H2.

Your computer specs show you are on 26300.9457

Since that's older than 26300.9550, it's offering you the new one.

I don't understand what 26300.9550 is offering compared to 26300.9457. I'm generally reluctant to install 'preview updates', and 9550 is showing as an optional update.

I already installed 26H2 earlier this morning, when Windows Update informed me of it. Therefore I don't understand why the optional one is showing.

9550 is the public preview of the October patch Tuesday update.
9457 is the most recent public Patch Tuesday update
