This worked for me as well. I found it much faster to download the Media Creation Tool instead of downloading the ISO. MUCH faster!

Steve C, et al, Appreciate the replies. I haven't had time to tear apart the PC to test the PSU, but I will. I have personally seen other PSUs completely or partially fail. What's so bizarre :unsure::eek1: is that the PC seems to shut down (when it SHOULD NOT) but doesn't fully shut down...

I'm not sure I want to change that. The issue isn't that the LED is on. The issue is my PC has shut down but pressing the Power button won't start it. That I have to disconnect power in order to restart the PC.

Is this a BIOS setting? I don't see it in Windows.

The only way to get out of this "mode" :unsure: is to disconnect power. I break AC power to the computer either by pulling the plug from either end or turning off the PSU switch and then the LED goes off in a few seconds. Only then, I reconnect AC power and turning the tower on. This problem...

Just saw this. Steve, I put a NEW SSD in before replacing the battery. Once the battery was replaced, the unit perfomed as expected, Windows installed promptly (under 5 minutes), so I don't see any need to do any CHKDSK. I mean, why?

The battery never felt warm. FYI.

Problem SOLVED: are you ready for this? I had ordered a replacement battery early on since it would only "charge to 42%" at most and, when unplugged, would immediately power down. So it was only running when plugged in. After swapping in the new battery, it booted quickly, programs opened...
