Aha! It happens as if by magic - thanks. C:\Users\Birk>winget --version v1.7.10861 Now can anyone explain why they (whoever they is) decided to use -- instead of /? <=== rhetorical question
  2. Windows Package Manager (WinGet) 1.7.10861 Windows 10 and Windows 11

How does one install this? Downloading Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_8wekyb3d8bbwe.msixbundle does not do anything. Google says use the Windows App Installer but this does not do anything either. THere's a secret to installing - but what is it?
  3. Uh oh - a Catch 22

Well, I had no idea my post would generate so much interest. I'll try to respond to everyone here: antspants: my trackball is the Kensington Expert Mouse wireless Keyboard is from Amazon - Seenda wireless lighted. Both devices use Bluetooth only to communicate with the PC. My motherboard has no...
  4. Uh oh - a Catch 22

    Well, it almost worked - I think. Here's a list of my commands: C:\Users\Birk>powercfg /devicequery wake_programmable HID-compliant consumer control device (001) HID Keyboard Device (001) HID-compliant vendor-defined device (004) Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (17) I219-V HID-compliant consumer...
  5. Uh oh - a Catch 22

Thanks (again) for that post from superuser.com. It looks promising. I'll try it later tonight and see what happens. I did find out that using the hardware power button when the pc is asleep just wakes it up rather than doing a complete reboot. So if nothing else works I guess I can...
  6. Uh oh - a Catch 22

Thanks FreeBooter - the Power Management option for the trackball is already enabled - and it does not wake my PC.
  7. Uh oh - a Catch 22

Becuase I wanted to neaten up my desk I bought a BlueTooth wireless keyboard and a BlueTooth wireless trackball. I've been able to get these 2 working just fine, and my desk is a bit neater without the extra wires. But..... When I put my PC to sleep there is no way to wake it up. Apparently...
  8. Introducing the new sound of Snapdragon

Surely one of the most annoying sounds I've ever heard.
  9. Snipping Tool Alternatives

Edwin is correct about the Spanish articles El, La, Los, and Las. What's also good to know is that in Spanish there is no neuter; everything is either masculine or feminine. What I wonder about is how Spanish speaking people keep track of whether something is M or F. For example, if you hit a...
  10. Is it possible to trick Win11 into thinking Bluetooth headset is wired headset?

I read somewhere that BlueTooth 5 can connect multiple devices at one time, but it can support only one being active at a time. This means (if true) that is can only transmit and receive data from one device at a time. I tend to believe this because I just converted my wired keyboard and wired...
  11. Solved Why does my PC self-wake up?

The Lastwake trick was the key to fixing this problem. It showed that my Ethernet controller was the cause of the last wake, and I found that the last 2 wake option were enabled. so I switched them to disabled. Problem solved.
  12. Solved Why does my PC self-wake up?

Excellent suggestions - thanks. Now that I see it again I remember the lastwake trick - I had completely forgotten it. Will try not to do that again.
  13. Solved Why does my PC self-wake up?

I recently replaced my system's USB cabled mouse and trackball with a wireless Bluetooth lighted keyboard and wireless trackball. Everything is working OK - except the system wakes up by itself after I put it to sleep. Needless to say it did not do that when the 2 devices were wired ones. So -...
  14. Win11 23H2 Build 22631.2861 random freezes

Thanks for the feedback. The M2 is a Samsung SSD boot drive. I'll see if Samsung Magician has any info about it or some diagnostics. The graphics card is a fairly new AMD, but I can run OK without it.
