  1. Any chess players?

something really dumb is happening when "Freedom is not Free" becomes "Tyranny is taxed identity" as a body of law,
  2. Any chess players?

Wanna find out if your logic is as good as an AI? I can detect a lie with a two questions. Do humans have the same rights as all other animals? There's only one right answer. If you answer the following question right, you're a friend until you prove otherwise And no AI would disagree given the...
  3. Latest Firefox released for Windows

Just updated. Seems faster than the last update, but no idea if it's a still a negative progression in performance over a previous update, or progress.
  4. Seeking a second opinion... Is OneDrive malicious malpractice ?

  5. Bluetooth goes offline

I'm practicing the art of understatement, to say the least...some people get ...sensitive.... about criticism of MS.
  6. Bluetooth goes offline

It happens a little more often than it should, but it's usually quickly solved.
  7. Creating a custom recovery partition using freeware?

Going to play with that for a while. See if I can make it work. Thanks.
  8. Creating a custom recovery partition using freeware?

This probably sounds a bit ridiculous but because I specialize in resurrecting bricked laptops and giving them back to people who can't afford new ones, I'm looking for an easy way to create the same kind of bootable recovery partitions OEM manufacturers use to include their software setups in a...
  9. Why did the laptop battery empty?

It is charged to 100% of its remaining designed capacity. 30% of which was lost in the first two weeks I owned the laptop in my specs. It is absolutely due to pressing the power button, waiting for the black shutdown screen, and putting my laptop in a bag, only to have it power back up and drain...
  10. CARDFILE_32.EXE stopped working after today's Windows Update

It's probably caused by a recent update. That can be confirmed by checking update history. Others, who are not operating on 4 hours of sleep followed by 20 hours of gaming and blogging, will probably be around shortly to help you properly diagnose and solve your problem...Good luck.
  11. Bluetooth goes offline

My neighbor is a little old lady who's scared to try X-Lite. I encountered this exact same issue with her computer on Friday, but with a Logitech mouse, now solved. Being cursed with the ability to read faster than most people, there are several other forums I like to peruse, leading to the...
  12. Bluetooth goes offline

This problem is caused by a recent update that will be followed by a silent out-of-band patch shortly. It's not limited to any specific brands of BT mice that I'm aware of. Wait a few days and the mouse will work again when you try to connect it.
  13. Why did the laptop battery empty?

Beat me to it... someone ought to warn people not to put a new laptop into any kind of bag or case unless they do the above first... Batteries are expensive. About 30% of the indicated wear level happened in the first two weeks of owning my machine because I thought "Shutting Down" still meant...
  14. Seeking a second opinion... Is OneDrive malicious malpractice ?

I complain, but I have solutions that work. I'm trying to help people with real problems instead of pretending they don't exist. I don't state things I know to be false. Unlike quite a few people who have been working for Microsoft, Google, Intel, NVIDIA, Meta, and a lot of other multi-national...
  15. Is there an app that will let me make password protected zipped files or folders in Windows 11 Home?

IMO: 7zip is the best free solution for archiving files, but has problems with CRC errors on some .rar compression algorithms. It's better all-around than the free version of WinRAR, but the paid version of WinRAR is worth every penny if you need it every day.
