I simply setup automatic login on my Windows towers since they each serve something on the our LAN and also remotely when a user is away (Plex, Blue Iris, Calibre, etc). They all use the same MS account for login.
I am using "Calendar Dashboard" from the MS Store. The only tricky thing is It messes up all day events (puts them on the wrong day), so I have to set times to get them to show on the correct day.
Actually it's easy: Open Outlook (new), right click on the calendar icon located on the left sidebar and choose "Pin Shortcut to Taskbar".
Note: Duplicates events in screenshot simply to make them show on my Google web calendar.
Not sure what changed on mine. I upgraded to 24H2 a couple days ago. At least if the one file doesn't work (wouldn't work on any folder suddenly), it looks like the second posted one will likely get it to working again. 👍
The old download reg file reads:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
; Created by: Shawn Brink
; Created on: September 24, 2022
; Tutorial: Add Empty Folder context menu in Windows 11
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\EmptyFolder]
"Icon"="shell32.dll,-16715"
"MUIVerb"="Empty folder"...
I copied the entry from my 23H2's registry and it is back working.
So, the working reg file should be this version:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\EmptyFolder]
"Icon"="shell32.dll,-16715"
"MUIVerb"="Empty Folder"
"Position"="bottom"
"NeverDefault"=""...
I took the dll from another 23H2 desktop we have just to open CG so my network locations icons could be put back to the ones I like via CG's General Icons. I said "No" whenever it asked about replacing with a backup, BTW.
Make a new folder in C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu, put all the app shortcuts you want in there (great when you have a lot of a certain type like games). Next make shortcut to this new folder in same Start Menu folder you are in. The shortcut to the folder...
No, but you can pin it to Quick Access. Use the run box to open shell:::{22877a6d-37a1-461a-91b0-dbda5aaebc99} Click the three horizontal dots and you get the option to "Pin to Quick access". Otherwise, this works:
I don't like that method of getting rid of the Discover feature and button as I still use the sidebar ... and especially like the new drop feature on the sidebar. I got rid of the Discover feature and Blue button but kept the sidebar by this method:
Opened Microsoft Edge, navigated to Settings...
Well, I am not seeing the benefit of using them over my currently using Quick Access for my most used locations as they seem to provide the same service and would be a bit redundant. ;-)
