  1. Solved public or private?

Thanks gents. So it is simple. I checked the internet and it wanted me to add a separate router and connect the Starlink box to it. I could do that but thought I would see what you folks think. I appreciate the advice. I need this computer to access the NAS so I'll get on it. Thanks, again.
  2. Solved public or private?

I must be slipping with my network knowledge. A few months ago I installed Starlink for internet access. It has been fantastic and nestled in effectively to my ethernet network. I am now setting up a new computer and I can't get discovery because the Starlink connection is a public network...
  3. Can't copy and paste from my NAS

Sorry for any confusion. The "from" is my NAS. The "to" is anywhere on the drive other than the desktop. I can download from the internet, cannot copy and paste from my NAS. I've been using Win 11 since it launched and I have 7 computers on the network. I've never had to deal with any of...
  4. Can't copy and paste from my NAS

i think your assumptions are correct. The error message is "You will need to provide administrative permissions to past to this folder." I did discover that I can paste an app installation file to the desktop and then run it. It works normally. Apparently app installation files have admin...
  5. Can't copy and paste from my NAS

New Chinese laptop on ethernet with a Synology NAS. The title explains the issue. I've tried everything I can find on the internet to no avail. When I go to paste on the new computer I get an error message saying that I need admin permission. I am the administrator and the computer won't run...

  8. Popup Blues

At the far left end of the task bar is an area that reads out temperature and also launches a popup. How do I disable it? Thanks.
  9. Recalcitrant computers

I'm aware of that. That computer was compliant. 22H2 cumulative update came up and 21H2 cumulative updates downloaded. I waited one day and the 22H2 update came up and installed normally. I can't see how it was the computer doing that unless mine has some opinion about what day it is. The...
  10. Recalcitrant computers

Downloaded the cumumulative update and got it installed. All appears to be normal now. I'm convinced that some of these problems arise from Microsoft, not the computers we are trying to update.
  11. Recalcitrant computers

No need to post anything. The computer is running 22H2. The history post update shows
  12. Recalcitrant computers

I've spent hours updating 6 of my 8 windows 11 computers. The last two are behaving like recalcitrant children. The first is a laptop that is compatible with 11 and already updated to 22h2. I want to complete the cumulative update. Instead of updating to the 22h2 cumulative update it...
  13. Solved unable to upgrade to windows 11 22h2 error code 0x80888002

I can't help but think that some of these problems arise from an ISP or Microsoft. I spent two days frustrated that the update app wouldn't bring up 22H2 and I couldn't get installation assistant to run on my main computer. It simply went into na na land. I got the same error message others...
  14. Fewer images on startup, please.

Sure. Three Ways to Disable the Lock Screen on Windows 11 I chose the group policy editor.
  15. Fewer images on startup, please.

Understanding what lock screen means allowed me to solve the problem. An internet search on bypassing the lock screen turned up several options. I chose one that involved a simple registry edit. Problem solved. Thanks.
