  1. Cannot Disable Windows Hypervisor - Stuck on "A Hypervisor has been detected"

Copy that. Last thing to check: is Memory Integrity also off? Now on a philosopher's route: Have you actually confirmed that Workstation is running in Native Mode? This may already be the case and the rest is just a ghost chace. If you look at how Win11 is functioning, I assume this is by...
  2. Cannot Disable Windows Hypervisor - Stuck on "A Hypervisor has been detected"

That msinfo32 line isn't very specific so not sure what to make of it in the end. What hypervisor is detected if all features are disabled... More important is a stable system and that VMs run fine without hiccups. After trying all those steps, does VMware Workstation actually work normally or...
  3. Windows Gurus -- optimising nr of V-Cpu's in a Windows VM

Indeed. It was well mentioned that the host is a laptop. Sorry, I got that from another one of your threads. Anyway. That is still pretty decent specced for a laptop. @jimbo45 Start with the provided defaults. But start minimal. No use to over-donate resources to the VMs. Note virt-manager's...
  4. Hasleo Win to Usb - works on mine, not on my friend's

Interesting. I don't use this myself yet but looks like a good tool on the go. There's some info on the offiical how-to but nothing over the offline part, unfortunately: https://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/faq/en-US/How-to-use-WinToUSB.html If it is meant for personal use, the stick will be...
  5. Fedora rel 43 (beta) now released to public

    Fedora 43 is released! https://fedoramagazine.org/announcing-fedora-linux-43/
  6. Refs file system (stand alone NOT Storage spaces)

I like posts like this. Thanks for the input.
  7. Refs file system (stand alone NOT Storage spaces)

Something to keep in mind, there are multiple ReFS versions across different Windows versions. This is still in development. I stick with one older version of the FS, the one from Win8.1 I believe. I heard stories of the disk being RAW after some OS upgrades. This is troublesome, for instance...
  8. Refs file system (stand alone NOT Storage spaces)

I hope not. It is an experiment of its own. Well the last 10y+ I don't recall any power outages that took my PC down with issues. The data is backed up in any case. So far no issues with the ReFS disk. Just for simple -one-partition- data disks this works fine.
  9. Refs file system (stand alone NOT Storage spaces)

Indeed, for a home user on a single disk, this is purely curiosity. No RAID setups here. Note that even for a single disk there are some things to consider. There is no classic check disk after power failure. There is actually no UI check disk option the way home users are familiar with. What...
  10. Refs file system (stand alone NOT Storage spaces)

Interesting for testing. Thanks. Though on my daily driver -used as system disk- I stick to NTFS. Until they officially allow ReFS via setup install.
  11. Refs file system (stand alone NOT Storage spaces)

Yeah, like that it works, indeed.
  12. Refs file system (stand alone NOT Storage spaces)

Hi @jimbo45 I use ReFS on some of my internal data disks. All works fine. Games, not that I play much, are saved there too and the VMs also there with no issues. Even old DOS sfuff in DosBox runs from my ReFS partition, programs are all happy; the host OS handles it pretty well. Thing is I...
  13. For the adventurous - Fedora Rel 44 available

Looking good. And fresh! Fedora 43 is still in Beta... The 44 at the moment is indeed for the adventurous. 😁 Gnome or KDE no worries. I'm patiently waiting for the XFCE transition to Wayland.
  14. Solved Upgrading RAM in old Asus Laptop

Multiple sites report a max memory capacity of 8GB for Asus K53SV. But this search needs more refinement, via exact model serial tag/number. However, if the system reports 4 slots and max capacity of 16GB, you need to check besides under the back of the laptop also under the keyboard. Usually...
  15. Solved Fedora users - VLC HEVC problem fix

Thanks for the updates @jimbo45 ! I'll check soon when I upgrade stable F41->42, if it's the case, usually it is. Anyway, just to mention, I'm very pleased since DNF v5. Performance boost, faster and smoother downloads and installs.
