The steps I posted worked ok for me. Sorry I can't help any further.

To fix open Notepad and likely 2 files will appear; 1 new file and the last notepad file you opened. Close the last notepad file, leaving the blank notepad file open. Click 'gear' settings at top RH side. Go to below setting and change to 'Open a new window'.
