  1. Solved Dual screen setup (Home Theater) - automation tips?

Just FYI I have more or less solved this conundrum. My preferred video player is MPV. It's highly configurable. So now I have a mpv.conf configuration file that looks more or less like this: [Display 1] profile-cond = display_height == 1440 # Condition to be verified by my monitor...
  2. Solved Dual screen setup (Home Theater) - automation tips?

My question here has always been about software, no part of it ever included a hardware component. In your case you probably use your TV's integrated speakers, so the audio is transported via HDMI along with the video. In my case I have a separate 5.1 speaker set connected by USB. Does it make...
  3. Solved Dual screen setup (Home Theater) - automation tips?

But I don't want a new monitor. I don't want a 4K monitor. I don't need a 4K monitor. I have the funds, I just don't want it. 1440p is perfect for me. Am I speaking a foreign language here? Why is nobody getting what I want to achieve in this topic?? Is this some sort of prank??? 😂
  4. Solved Dual screen setup (Home Theater) - automation tips?

Why would you assume I have a HDMI cable laying on the floor? I own my house and ALL my cables (video, audio, USB, Ethernet) are already conveniently hidden through cable trunking. This was taken a couple months ago: I never requested for help with physical connections. Believe me, I'm more...
  5. Solved Dual screen setup (Home Theater) - automation tips?

Thanks for your reply. Although I don't get it: Why would I want to use a wireless HDMI adapter, when I already have a perfectly valid HDMI 2.1 cable running between my desktop PC and my TV? I thought I made that point clear from the start. Why would I want to stream content to my TV, when my...
  6. Solved Dual screen setup (Home Theater) - automation tips?

I'm very sorry but that's off-limits. That solution (desktop PC as server) was actually my previous setup, in my previous home. I used it for many years and I didn't like it, for several reasons (some video related, some audio related, some network related) that would be too long to explain...
  7. Solved Dual screen setup (Home Theater) - automation tips?

Small addition: forget about HDR. HDR should only be enabled for HDR content. The 3 other points remain though.
  8. Solved Dual screen setup (Home Theater) - automation tips?

Hi everybody 👋 Here's my dual screen setup, the source being my desktop PC: Screen 1 : 32" monitor (2560x1440, 60 Hz, SDR) Screen 2 : 85" TV (4K, 144 Hz, HDR) - I don't physically have it yet, but I expect to receive it soon Screen 1 is ON all the time. Screen 2 will be ON only for Home...
  9. How to rename a USB docking station so it appears correctly in the "Eject media" menu?

Hi guys, here's my issue. I have two USB3 HDD docking stations. Each of them can handle two physical HDDs. In station 1 I have one HDD, and in station 2 I have two HDDs. Everything is used for backup purposes. Station 1 manufacturer's name is "ASMT ASMT105x SCSI Disk Device", and station 2...
  10. Solved What's happening with my RAM usage?

I have never seen Windows notifying that it needs more RAM, sorry. Even less with 32 GB. When Windows doesn't have any memory left, it just writes on the pagefile. That's how it works.
  11. Solved What's happening with my RAM usage?

Well, it's obvious. By design, virtual memory is there to compensate for an eventual lack of RAM, by creating a paging file on a storage support. It just can't have any negative impact on the very thing it's supposed to improve, which is memory usage % ! 😂
  12. Solved What's happening with my RAM usage?

@krism But virtual memory isn't RAM. So having a 13 GB file in a SSD shouldn't have any negative influence on RAM usage.
  13. Solved What's happening with my RAM usage?

Thanks guys :) @Ed Tittel , first of all, never trust an AI 😂 Just kidding. About your quote, the "Hardware Reserved" is visible in my first screenshot ("Réserve paginée"), and it's only 1.5 GB, so it doesn't explain much. I guess I just don't understand the discrepancy between Task Manager...
  14. Solved What's happening with my RAM usage?

Indeed @Berton , my virtual memory setting is at default, so the system has set it to the C: drive (M.2 SSD), and... the current allocated size seems off the charts! Look at this screen. Recommended = 4.8 GB, current = 13.6 GB. What?
  15. Solved What's happening with my RAM usage?

Hi krism. Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough. The purpose of this thread is to understand what's happening (hence the title), not to find a "restart/reboot" workaround ;-) I know stopping browsers and/or rebooting will solve it, but that won't help me understand. For the record, it happens to...
