ExplorerPatcher brings back assorted features that MS in its wisdom chose to drop from Win 11. It allows choosing between Win10 and Win11 Start Menu and Task Bar. What I love is that it lets me put the task bar where I want it: vertical task bar on the left side of the screen. All who use it...
Explorer Patcher is freeware that's still working and allows moving the taskbar where you want as well as reverting to a Windows 10 taskbar. (I have the Win10 task bar vertical on the left.) Download at: Home
Will it work forever? Maybe not because MS may remove functionality on which it...
That's not normal. Try two things: (1) Update and restart Explorer Patcher (since right click on task bar isn't working, go via the Start Menu). (2) Set the Task Bar to Windows10 in Explorer Patcher (if it isn't already). Some users have reported a problem when their taskbar is set to Win11...
My understanding is that EP relies entirely on legacy code still buried somewhere in the operating system. Is MS inserting new code to block access, or removing the old code entirely? If it's the former, EP may be able to find a workaround. But if the code is removed, we might be out of luck.
The version of wlsetup I have may well be corrupt, but I decided to give it another try. Previously, I had used the default setting (install everything,) but since I only want Movie Maker, I selected only that (it's in a bundle with Photo Gallery). I got the same install error. But, oddly...
Classic Movie Maker was part of Windows Essentials, which Microsoft no longer offers. It's still possible to find download sites, including one at Wayback Machine.
For the relatively basic video editing I do, the old Movie Maker is great--I know how to use it and it does what I want. But when...
I wasn't having a problem, but I tried changing to Win10 ribbon, and immediately had a different issue: no flashing screen, but right click killed File Explorer immediately. Back to Win11 for Command Bar, and all is well.
Across multiple posts on this thread, people who have upgraded to 22621.2134 report EP problems, while those who are still using 22621.1992, including me, find that EP is working with no problems.
Schlechte Nachrichten.
The Win10 taskbar is the feature I'd most hate to give up--a vertical taskbar left side of screen is perfect for me. EP works fine for me now, so I'll delay upgrading as long as I can, and hope for a miracle.
