I also use Paint.Net. It's great, but doesn't do batch conversions, AFAIK. If I have many files to convert, I use XnConvert.

Also note that you can lossless convert TIFF to PNG and still get much smaller files for sharing.

My favorite batch conversion tool is XnConvert but, as mentioned, for a few images, pretty much any paint program will do the job.

Some exes must run or the system wouldn't even start up. Can you run notepad or mspaint or anything else from the Start menu? Can your run cmd.exe or powershell.exe? Please post a screenshot of the error. There are sometimes clues in the screenshot that a simple description misses.

Have you tried temporarily disabling BitDefender (or temporarily uninstalling it) just to see if that's the cause of the error?

@Brink Both the "Improves folder view consistency" feature and the "Preview anyway" button are completely MIA as far as I can determine. Aren't we well past the A/B testing on those by now? I do have the extended archive support, so it's not like none of the improvements got rolled out.

Well, it's been 3 weeks and I'm up to build 8524 on Release Preview and still see no difference in folder view consistency. None. Nada. Zilch.

I'm using GitHub CoPilot (Claude Sonnet 4.6) in Visual Studio for all my current projects and it does a good job of translating and building out the language files. When I rewrite WinSetView, it will be done the same way.

That's something I considered, but it was a lot of work to do for 30 languages and it means making a new release any time I revise the notes, whereas the online doc I can update at any time and leave it for people to use Google translate. However, I do see the value of having the info tips right...
