  1. Wired desktop has to restart in order to connect to internet

I thought I would update this thread as the OP and finally solved the problem. My wired speeds would start out fast (1 GBs) and drop to only 100 MBs after a while. I switched to the built in wifi on the MB and it did the same thing, started out at 600+MBs and dropped to 90MBs after a while. A...
  2. Wired desktop has to restart in order to connect to internet

Well, good news this morning (knock on wood). It came up with internet access. I'm thinking maybe a recent update is somehow causing issues with certain drivers. If it happens again, I'll dive into it further and report.
  3. Wired desktop has to restart in order to connect to internet

This morning it did happen after a shutdown, but since then I've changed the network drivers. I just shut it down for 10 minutes and it came up with internet access. I'll see what happens in the morning and report back. Johnlgalt: No UEFI updates that I am aware of. I had been using the Intel...
  4. Wired desktop has to restart in order to connect to internet

I have a custom-built desktop PC running Windows 11 Pro, 23H2 build 22631.2792. Motherboard is Asus Z390-E gaming. PC is wired via cat6 cable to router. Sometime within the last week or so, when I boot up in the morning, I don't have internet access. If I restart the computer, it then connects...
  5. Problem with Notepad

Thanks Tabyo for your reply. Word wrap is definitely off. I think the best solution as you and others have said, is to use another tool for linear charts. I was trying to take the easy way out with Notepad. I'll probably just use a template or an excel spreadsheet.
  6. Problem with Notepad

Thanks too Berton. I'll give one of those templates a try.
  7. Problem with Notepad

Thanks, BunnyJ. Not sure how to put spaces between the values, but I'll give it a try. I think my best bet though as you said is to use a different tool.
  8. Problem with Notepad

I need an expert with Notepad to help me with this issue. The example is using Notepad++, but it the same happens if I use regular notepad. I created a check register (see photo) and then tried to save it as a text file. When it's saved as a text file, the data is all jumbled and skewed (see...
  9. Solved How to get Windows 10 context menu back on Windows 11

I agree. I looked at the tutorials section, before I posted, but didn't see one that covered this particular situation. And yes, editing the registry yourself would be done only if no other methods were available. Winaero Tweaker will indeed make these changes for you and is freeware if you...
  10. Solved How to get Windows 10 context menu back on Windows 11

I do a lot of copying and pasting and Windows 11 requires an extra step. If you want to be able to use the context menu you were used to in Windows 10, this tutorial shows how to do it. I just completed the registry entries and it does indeed work. Just make sure you back up your registry first...
  11. Solved How to unscramble a dual-boot system

Thanks, jimbo. I guess I got a little cold feet. I will study up on bcdedit and I also want to download Macrium Reflect as I need to have periodic good backups of my system. I have 2 old core 2 duo laptops running Windows 10 that I use as test machines and backups. The first thing I want to do...
  12. Solved How to unscramble a dual-boot system

I had no trouble fixing the bootloader. I did find that I was missing a couple of apps from the Microsoft Store and I ended up having to do a system restore back a couple of days, but I'm back up and running and everything appears to be working normally.
  13. Solved How to unscramble a dual-boot system

Brink, my goal was to get rid of the second installation of Windows 11 and I just fixed it taking the easy way out. I simply removed the older SSD that contained the 2nd installation of Win11 from my computer. I replaced it with a spare SSD I had lying around and that will be for storage. Now I...
  14. Solved How to unscramble a dual-boot system

Thanks for the replies, guys. Let me see if I can explain this a little further. Drive C (Disk 0) is the second installation of Windows 11 that I don't want as it's on a slower SSD. Drive J (Disk 2) is the faster NvME SSD and is the original copy of Windows 11 and used to be the C drive. What...
  15. Solved How to unscramble a dual-boot system

I need some advice on how to unscramble this scenario. I upgraded in-place from Windows 10 to 11, but without keeping files, apps, etc. I ended up with some issues and against my better judgment decided to reinstall using an ISO on usb . Because I have 3 1TB SSDs in my system, I accidentally...
