yes, i have rolled back my system using two older macrium images and the problem showed up there too. drivers for the integrated sensor were deleted and reinstalled - the problem persisted. thanks for the advice

I have one drive folder on my windows system drive. I understand that one drive has a two way synchronization. So when i format my system drive, how come windows does understand this as a deletion of all files and empty my onedrive online folder?

Thanks garlin - i understood what the problem from the ifixit link you provided above. I guess the cable to the sensor has gotten disconnected while retrofitting the screen into the new top panel Let's see if i can fix the same now that i am aware that it is not a software problem
