  1. Solved Waiting for printer connection

Reading what you have said, I am pretty sure I will have to make it static. I will see what happens over the next few days, then, probably, dive in to the printer manual to find out where the IP setting is!
  2. Solved Waiting for printer connection

Ah, I kind of blew it. Sorry. Initially I allowed Windows to set up the ports and it selected to use WSD. So, now, I implemented a new port that dacrone suggested, but being lazy, I just did it using the latest installation from Canon. It created a Standard TCP/IP port and if there were any...
  3. Solved Waiting for printer connection

I just tested it again, by the way, and setting the Default to the new printer and the problem immediately returns once the printer switches itself off. I have confirmed that the power-up delay of the application is down to the printer being switched off.
  4. Solved Waiting for printer connection

It says a WSD port. Whatever that is. The old printer is the same, except it has a different port number.
  5. Audio on Dell PC disappears

Can you check through the sound settings in Windows? See if everything is correct? I had a sort of similar problem that sometimes, during boot, Windows changed the sound configuration. I fixed the problem by using something called SoundSwitch. An application that checks and changes back...
  6. Solved Waiting for printer connection

Very interestingly, I have realised this is a Windows problem and was introduced comparatively recently. For some time I had noticed that certain applications were very slow to start and could delay (freeze) for ten seconds while powering up. I had always put this down to the applications...
  7. Solved Waiting for printer connection

I recently replaced my network printer. The previous one worked for many years without any problems and was my default windows printer. Like any other printer, though, it would go to sleep and occasionally I would even turn it off. The new printer is a little different. If it's switched off...
  8. Solved Odd Sound Issue

Oh, I found it. For some strange reason, Windows had changed the speaker mode to 5.1. I have no idea why it did this, and why it affected the level display, but there you go. I can reproduce the problem and at least will know what to do if it happens again.
  9. Solved Odd Sound Issue

My PC was working yesterday. Today, silence! But the odd thing is that if I take a look in the Windows Sound Configuration, the Speakers are selected, as they should be, but when any app plays a sound, there is no movement on the level display to the right. If I select a different audio output...
  10. Solved How To Change VPN Type.

Yes, finally, the registry option worked. I have no idea why the other options don't. But then there are things missing in 11, because the old Control Panel is the only thing that even displays the problem. I remember having this issue before. It is when Windows 11 glitches and creates a new...
  11. Solved How To Change VPN Type.

Thank you for the reply. There are no VPN settings, and this is kinda the problem. I remember having this problem once before with a different VPN. I don't think I found a way to change it that time either. There must be a setting in the Registry that I can edit.
  12. Solved How To Change VPN Type.

My VPN has been set to Public for many months. Suddenly, this morning, when Windows 11 powered up, it decided to change it to Private. I can't seem to find any way to set it back to Public. Does anyone know a way?
  13. Anyway to stop Windows Installing an app?

It's odd, it's only an Alienware monitor. But Windows insists on this piece of software that doesn't work with my monitor. I will persist! Sooner or later Windows should give up?
  14. Lost Network With 24h2

Damn you Microsoft! With 24H2 I have lost the use of all my network software. It seems that Windows now insists on a username and password even when un-ticked in network settings This is extremely annoying. Can anyone tell me how to setup a username and password on the target PC? (or bypass...
  15. Anyway to stop Windows Installing an app?

Windows just updated to 24H2. It installed some apps that I don't want. In particular, it installed the Alienware Command Center, which is an app that doesn't actually work with my monitor. The problem is that if I uninstall it, Windows just installs it again. Any thoughts on how to stop...
