Anyway to stop Windows Installing an app?

Win11
Windows just updated to 24H2.

It installed some apps that I don't want.

In particular, it installed the Alienware Command Center, which is an app that doesn't actually work with my monitor.

The problem is that if I uninstall it, Windows just installs it again.

Any thoughts on how to stop it doing this?

You didn't fill in your My Computer as requested when you joined the forum. Is the computer in question actually an Alienware Desktop or Notebook? The couple times I've had issues with OEM software were fixed by wiping the system drive of all partitions and using the bootable USB Thumb drive created using the Microsoft MCT/Media Creation Tool. No problem but didn't check it that voided any warranty by the OEM.

Also keep in mind that according to the EULA we only License the use of Windows which is free to make updates as they require.

Hello @PocahToo and welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

You can disable updates to Windows Apps...

And you can block drivers included in Windows Updates....

I'm not sure that either of these will help with DELL software installs. :(

I disable both items in the tutorials above, just for peace of mind.

If you have a desktop, look in the BIOS.
For example, for MSI computers :
"Enables or disables MSI Driver Utility support.
When enabled, platform drivers will be automatically downloaded through Windows Update
after the first installation of the operating system."

It's odd, it's only an Alienware monitor. But Windows insists on this piece of software that doesn't work with my monitor.
I will persist! Sooner or later Windows should give up?

Oh... I thought you had an Alienware computer.
The solution for a regular computer is the tutorial below.
The drivers will still show up as "optional" installs, but won't be forced on you, ever again.

And NO... Windows won't give up... ever. LOL

@PocahToo

There's a nifty little program called Winaero Tweaker, that let's you do a lot of the tweaks in the tutorials... with just a check mark.

For example, every now and then Microsoft will turn "include driver updates" back on.
With Winaero, it only takes a second to turn it back off...
And... it has tons of tweaks, sorted by categories...
