@OAT Well, I "unchecked" every last 'Allow the computer to turn off...' I could find in device mgr (after making a full system backup :) ) and went out for an hour and the problem is the same. Now this is interesting ..... just noticed, exact same problem on my laptop which is always on and...

Thank you ... going to check that now, HOWEVER while desktop icons and shortcuts don't respond until they "wake up" the task bar and start menu icons all do so they aren't "sleeping" it's ONLY desktop icons and shortcuts that need to be awaken and this just started a couple weeks ago.

Winver 22H2 22621.898 Suddenly started a couple weeks ago. System set on "high performance" power plan. All "timers" disabled. No sleep or hibernation modes enabled, screen always on. Removed all mouse and HID devices and reinstalled by refresh. Standard Logitech mouse. NOTHING CHANGED...
