  1. Where have all the humans gone! Particularly at BT/EE

The wilds of Scotland must be better off than the wilds of Cumbria. Nearest BT shop is over 40 miles away. In the meantime and totally off subject Eurosport Tour de France cover which we preferred to ITV cover has gone walkabout.
  2. Where have all the humans gone! Particularly at BT/EE

Fabler - Thanks but just other ways of getting on the same merry go round! I don't think it was in either. It is the weekend after all! Maybe I'll have a ratch around my box of past electronics and find an old repeater. It is not a vital WiFi booster as it only gets used 2 or 3 of times a year...
  3. Where have all the humans gone! Particularly at BT/EE

Increasingly I am finding that any attempt to contact a human being is being effectively barred by various menus which go round in circles. I am trying to get in touch with EE or BT re a failed WiFi booster disk I got a few months back and can't find anywhere to do it. Send a message just...
  4. CorelDraw - Alternatives and ways of opening old files

I haven't tried the portable version of Inkscape I can probably open the PDF file I had created at the time and then cut and paste the data toa new file using Publisher. That shifts the problem to October next year of course when Publisher is shut down!
  5. CorelDraw - Alternatives and ways of opening old files

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry for the delayed reply. In the meantime I have made several attempts at installing Inkscape - all ended with "Something happened at our end". I've tried a few rotes but all end up the same.
  6. CorelDraw - Alternatives and ways of opening old files

Way back in 2011 I created a history panel listing past incumbents for the local church. I used CorelDraw. It now needs amending but I don't have CorelDraw. I tried the Free trial version but that doesn't seem to allow the opening of old files. A box asking for the app to use appears. I then...
  7. What can I use in future instead of Publisher

Somehow this sounds like an illegal action!
  8. What can I use in future instead of Publisher

For many years I have been doing the DTP for the local village news. This a 24 page A5 booklet published monthly. Over the years that I've been doing it I have used CorelDraw, Indesign and in recent years, Publisher. I now face two issues. Microsoft is phasing out Publisher and while suggesting...
  9. Solved Public view of Google Calendar

Found answer - sorry to trouble anyone that looked! It is a link that allows the viewer to add the calendar to their own list of calendars. Add to personal Google Calendar might have been clearer!
  10. Solved Public view of Google Calendar

I need to make the Priory's church and halls Google calendar available to all via my village web site. That is straight forward. However when I test it I find that at the bottom left of the calendar there is a link "Add to Google calendar" which appears to give more access than I want give. I am...
  11. New keyboard

My only major regret in life is that I never learned how to handle those keys.
  12. New keyboard

I'll have a look. The unreadable letters are (so far) not a problem. My fingers at least seem to know where they ae.
  13. New keyboard

An IT friend and I produced one of the first computer programs for GPs. One of the selling points was that it could be used to produced legible prescriptions. Regulations were moving in that direction. We had to stop using things such as tds, qds, prn on prescriptions which was faster in the...
  14. New keyboard

Agree and I'm surprised no one has had a dig at me re doctors handwriting!
  15. New keyboard

One thing I noted is that if I was typing something up that had been initially written, I was way slower and less accurate than if I was typing up something I was creating as I typed. Seems to prove muscle memory is better than brain memory in this situation? I recall a young colleague who was...
