A rather wide ranging post, hence putting it in General support. Sorry if wrong choice.
After 3 years or so of generally using my my Pc and trying different apps, etc. and a PC that was beginning to do the odd thing, I thought it was time for a clean reinstall. I duly did this after ensuring all data was secure, which it was as mostly was in other drives. That proceeded without issues, and Windows was downloaded and installed. It did seem quicker and slightly different but I didn't really note in what way. On re-starting all was OK so I generally set it up as I wanted. Outlook (Cloud version) had been loaded automatically - didn't really want it.
Then the fun started. I tried to re-install Office apps from my subscription. Only ones I could see were Word, Powerpoint and Excel. No Publisher - major problem. I know it ends in October next year but I am not ready for the move to something else yet. First things first - load what was available. I couldn't. Whatever I tried I could not get an Install option. Exhausted what I knew, a thing or two Google suggested, all to no avail.
Then I tired Copilot, which brings me to a different but relevant topic. Copilot is miles better than any chat I've had on line or by phone. Fast and much more efficient. I spent about an hour "talking" to IT as it tried to solve the problem. In the end it gave me what I presume was a sort of private link that worked, and installed Office Enterprise edition, complete with the missing Publisher. In a way I have got a bonus.
So in summary, Restore may not appear to run as you may expect from experience but it was efficient and the resulting installation was good, apart from the usual insistence on Bing/Edge! Copilot is excellent for the more complex queries and unlike Google doesn't refer you to lengthy Videos. Straight to the point with instructions. Now on a quick access button. A few errors such as an instruction to use a button or link that MS had moved somewhere else but at least I knew what I was looking for.
