In my practice, clean-install is about 15 GB on my lenovo laptop.
No matter, from Windows 10, to Windows 11 22H2, 23H2, 24H2. no significant change.

My main Office are Office2010, Office97 (fastest. But nearly extinct. No support) on 24H2.
Office2013 or higher are all cloud-based. Bulky and sluggish. I gave up them after test (according to test time). comparable to your internet issue.

better install in order of Office2010, 2007, last Office97.
If Office97 NOT installed last, it would request repair install (can be ignored. but every time Open it, error pops up. thou no hurt on use)
VB is slow anyway. ;-)
In contrast, my VirtualBox is running on Windows 7. host is Windows 7. guest is Windows 11.
I wish VirtualBox could be more powerful. it runs much weaker than physical computer. anyway, its' better than nothing.
