Windows 11 version 24H2 End of Servicing on October 13, 2026

Current status as of March 27, 2026

Windows 11, version 24H2 Home and Pro editions will reach end of updates on October 13, 2026. If you have an eligible Windows 10 or Windows 11 device, you can check whether the update is available by selecting Settings > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates. If your device is ready for the update, you’ll see the option to Download and install Windows 11, version 25H2.

Some PCs can't boot after latest Windows 11 security update, no fix in sight —mostly affects 24H2 and 25H2 versions

Once again I see no direct source from microsoft saying this. A bunch of news articles all pointing to one random forum post.......with 9 replies. Which means nothing. Very frustrating that all these "news" sites don't reach out to get an answer from microsoft directly.

Edit: Looks like it is in the 365 admin center. Maybe they have not updated the official site yet. No problems here so far at my work with machines that have it, but curious what models are affected or what circumstances are causing this.

update KB5074109

Easy fix: (that should not be necessary)

enter windows recovery enviorment, and just "Uninstall latest quality update"

Communications such as described above are commonplace when tech support is unavailable or sparse. IMO going directly to Microsoft for support is pretty much a waste of time. Going to MS web pages tends to be a bit more helpful, but only in specific instances. I've had exponentially more help here, on the Windows Forums (7,8 and 8.1 which should have been 9, 10 and 11). Even this particular thread can substantiate this. I wonder how many folks know about windows central. I'm just glad this forum exists because genuine HUMAN HELP is going to get scarce.

Yeah…..last time I made a generalized image I set the partition to 200MB so anything I refreshed in the last two year or so will be fine.

Here’s hoping I don’t have any other problems with anything else.

Don’t get me started on the management or we will be here all day

It's so true.

Their customized ESP is in uncommon size. And NOT user-friendly to handle with.

I run several theirs. While re-formatted and did clean-install OS. HP DM computer has more ports on USB3 and graphics. Which are useful in my work.
Dell is inexpensive than HP. Plastic-like. But good for simple daily work.

ESP is typically used as "scratch space" for BIOS updates. It's a FAT32 volume that's always present. You don't have to ask the user to find a spare FAT32-formatted USB drive every time there's a BIOS update.

The bad side is they should be running some ESP cleanup task, because individual firmware images aren't that huge.
