This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off energy saver when browsing the web in the Copilot app for your account in Windows 11.
The Microsoft Copilot app is your AI app for work. Copilot connects to the Microsoft 365 apps and content you use every day, creates polished documents, spreadsheets, and presentations, gets things done with Cowork, lets you choose between leading AI models, understands your job and company through Work IQ, and keeps your data protected.
When you sign in to Copilot, your experience adapts to your account: a licensed work-or-school experience with enterprise data protection, or a personal experience for individuals, with or without a Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium subscription.
Microsoft Copilot app now supports in-app browsing on Windows 11, allowing users to open websites side-by-side with chat. Users can manage tabs, toggle full-screen, or open links externally. Data is stored locally, similar to Edge.
Energy saver for Copilot web browsing improves performance and extends battery life when your device is running on battery power. Windows efficiency mode may still be active regardless of this setting.
Turning on energy saver for Copilot web browsing helps:
- Reduce background tab activity and some foreground activity.
- Puts background tabs to sleep after 30 minutes or less of inactivity, if sleeping tabs is on.
- When additional steps are taken to save battery, energy saver may cause videos to be less smooth.
- Savings may depend on your device, applications, and individual application habits.
- Balanced extends battery life by saving computer resources when your device is unplugged or on low battery
- Maximum savings conserves battery life when you can’t connect to power for an extended period of time. This may impact video quality.
- If you have Balanced selected, you should experience no or minor slowdowns when you browse.
- If Maximum savings is selected, you will see better power savings, but you may experience some visible slowdowns when you browse. For example, it may cause videos to be less smooth.
