Just got a reply from tp-link, which explains a lot.
But then I'm easily confused... (But I still think the main title on the box in big bold letters should be Archer TX20E and not AX1800)
"Hi, thanks for your feedback and sharing here.
"AX1800" means the wireless specification, which is...
That's the right one, if you click on support it takes you to the page I showed a link to for the Archer TX20E
But again, the page you linked to referred to the AX1800, but the driver once the support link is clicked is for the Archer TX20E
Why have two products called the same thing?
If one...
Well,
The box states the tp-link I bought is an "AX 1800" in great big bold letters, so that's the driver I used from their website.
Looking at the tiny label on the side it states TX20E(UN) V1.0 on the side along with it's S/N number
And now I've searched for the TX20E driver, it's different...
The onboard WiFi has got a 1 bar signal, and about 20 Mbps, the new tp-link has 3 bars and about 3 Mbps
the new tp-link seems to be working at 2.4Ghz onboard is 5Ghz
Onboard

The tp-link shows link speed as 144 Mbps, what does this actually mean as it's only getting 3 Mbps in real...

Thinking that I was doing the right thing I have purchased and installed a tp-link WiFi adapter, (AX1800 or Archer TX20E), and...
Well,
I have connected the Kobo before and uninstalled the Linux File-Stor Gadget USB Device, and I have also uninstalled the driver in the USB section of Device Manager.
What I hadn't done before is Uninstalled the device in Disk Drives in Device Manager and clicked on the "Attempt to remove...
Thank you for your response
I did run scannow before, it didn't find anything, but I have run it again.
Same result as before.
The eReaders were up to date before this started, but of course I can't check them now.
I did have a long chat with Kobo support who just said reset the eReader...
I've now uninstalled all the portable devices and tried using a USB stick, which then connects correctly and pops up in the Portable Devices
Strange how it stays in Portable Devices even though I've removed it.
I've tried three different cables and 5 different port, both 2.0 and 3.0
Two of the cable are ones which I know worked previously, and still work with the Win 11 laptop.
Nothing shows in Device Manage

Both my Kobo Clara HD and my wife's Kobo Glo HD no longer connect properly when plugged in.
The taskbar shows that they connect and I get the ping as well.
They do not show up in File Explorer and are not recognised as connected by Kobo Desktop or Calibre.
The Mass Storage Device that appears...
Don't know, but I did that even though I'm sure I had done that before.
But I also changed the user name to be the same on both PC and Laptop and used that in the "credentials" request
