  1. The Difficulty to Remove Windows Defender and the Potentional Risks

Well, duh. Good job on missing the entire point for bringing it up.
  2. The Difficulty to Remove Windows Defender and the Potentional Risks

You can play plenty of games on Linux. It's the games with anti-cheat that will throw a fit. But that wasn't the point. The point was to answer his question below. And that answer is no.
  3. Why are Windows semiannual updates named H1 and H2?

Unconscious hemisphere bias. I know I'm guilty of it, and I'm not sure how I can live with myself for such thought crimes. Jokes aside, twas an interesting read. I actually did wonder what the H designation was for. Now I know. Thanks.
  4. The Difficulty to Remove Windows Defender and the Potentional Risks

I just watched a video where someone installed Linux for gaming. No bloat or Windows Defender holding the system back. The gain/loss in FPS varied by game and was ultimately insignificant. The "windows bloat" and "defender slowdown" arguments are overblown rubbish as far as I'm concerned...
  5. Defender being squirrely.

I wanted to manually scan a folder that contains about 1k files. I right clicked it. Selected scan with Defender as usual. Defender then proceeded to scan a reported 201k files. I then did the math and found that I don't even have that many files on my PC. I thought maybe Defender was counting...
  6. How to use UltraISO on W11 24H2

I'm using LTSC, but still on 24H2. Working fine on my end. I have to run it as admin or settings won't apply, but that's about it. What exactly is it doing when you open it?
  7. I keep hearing reading sound from my external hdd

Do you have any manufacturer software installed? I had the same things happen after installing software for a WD drive. The software was absolutely useless for my needs. Uninstalling it fixed everything.
  8. Solved Thoughts on Synology NAS

I'm not in the market for such devices, but after reading this, if I were, I wouldn't even look in this company's direction. https://www.techpowerup.com/335824/synology-forcing-owners-of-its-plus-series-nas-appliances-to-use-own-brand-hard-drives Edit: I forgot how to spell.
  9. uninstalling mcafee

No matter which method you use, you'll still find folders and registry keys related to McAfee. As long as it's uninstalled and not sapping resources, it's all good. The rest is OCD stuff.
  10. ASUS Announces Availability of VU Air Ionizer Monitors

ASUS: In search of Incredible solutions to problems that don't exist.
  11. What Games Are You Playing?

I'm currently playing Compiling Shaders: The Game... I mean, Silent Hill 2: Remastered. The atmosphere is spot on. Like the original, as far as I can remember of the original, that is, it's a linear affair with little enemy variety, dead ends, and lots of inaccessible doors, but I still find...
  12. Looking for Video Downloading software

If you don't mind downloading on an android device and then transferring your videos to the PC, then this downloader may help. Hasn't failed me yet.
  13. Are you happy with Windows 11

I'm happy with Windows 11. I was hesitant to work with it after having used Windows 10 for quite awhile, but I took to it pretty quickly. Be it a new phone or a new OS, I'm the guy that goes through every single setting in the settings menu to learn what does what before using the device for...
  14. What Games Are You Playing?

The last one I played was just called Tomb Raider from 2013. I hadn't played any of these titles since the PS1 days. While it looked fantastic, It felt more like a movie with some game play sprinkled in. My enthusiasm waned a few hours in to it. Maybe I'll try it again one of these days.
  15. Android phone not recognised by Windows 11 desktop PC

On my system listed as #1, both USB C to C and USB A to C work fine with my S20 Ultra. On system #2, USB A to C works, but USB C to C will connect and disconnect at random, and will only stay stable when USB mode is set to transfer pictures and media files. Using a different phone (Motorola)...
