Looking for Video Downloading software

I have been using the free Any Video Converter to download videos and for the past few weeks it fails to work even the newer versions. So, I would like to know what free software others would recommend for downloading videos.

When I used to use the free Ant Video to save streaming data it would run into DRM [Digital Rights] that could prevent the recording. I use Audials for saving audio data, haven't tried recording video although it does play streaming movies, latest I recorded the audio from was Orpheus in the Underworld while the orchestra was on the screen.

I use yt-dlp.exe command line for downloading videos.

or some browser extension in firefox called, Video DownloadHelper

I used 4K Video Download which worked well for some youtube videos to take on holiday. I haven't tested it elsewhere.

Not looking for software to record videos, but to download some videos. Something where I can copy a link and paste into a downloader.

I just tried the 4k Video Download and it wouldn't launch.

I used 4K Video Downloader but like you can't get the new version to work on my main pc. The old version has worked great for years. I need to try it on some spare systems to see if I get the same problem.

I have used Video DownloadHelper in Firefox. It does work but not on all websites.

If you don't mind downloading on an android device and then transferring your videos to the PC, then this downloader may help. Hasn't failed me yet.

Have to agree with @Tester , I use yt-dlp. It's a very versatile tool that offers several features and you can extract just the audio should the need for it arise. Download speeds are insanely quick, as well as any parameters you choose after the download completes. You just need to be familiar with command line. If you do choose yt-dlp, if you don't already have it, be sure to get ffmpeg as it's a requirement in order to achieve best results.
