I ended up getting a 512GB high-speed SD card. While they are more fragile than thumb drives, they serve my needs (transferring files from my laptop to my desktop) just fine. It's fast and convenient. I also went with NavyLCDR's suggestion and got a SABRENT 1TB Rocket Nano V2. It's pretty cool.

If auto-hide is enabled for the taskbar, then the search box won't show.
