Bizarre - I just rolled back to the Realtek audio drivers (the ones in the update were MS ones), rechecked Windows Update and those driver updates now don't show up.
I'm well aware that PC configurations are complex.
If I revert everything to stock and I disable fTPM = no stutter.
If I configure everything and disable fTPM = no stutter.
As soon as I enable fTPM the system stutters. This happens in Windows 10 and 11. This happens with unfixed BIOSes and...
That's quite an insulting comment - and actually not at all correct. The issue is NOT fixed.
If you don't like my own first-hand experience, just check out the AMD Community pages, there are plenty of folks who have followed all the advice re. running stock settings, updating chipset drivers...
I just gave ExplorerPatcher a try - I wanted the old 'show all system tray icons' option, but sadly it doesn't work for all the icons (my RME icons don't show up).
Fingers crossed MS bring this back?
Suggest you ask your wife what she did?!
I only had something similar happen with a locking DisplayPort cable, which was plugged into a monitor on an articulated arm. The cable got caught on the 'elbow' of the arm and of course when the arm was extended it tried to pull the cable out at an...
You could always reflash the BIOS chip with a known good BIOS - both via the usual way or via a chip programmer. I had to do the latter to un-brick an Asus motherboard not so long ago.
Someone else might be able to advise if there are areas of the BIOS which are impossible to wipe and reset -...
First thing I uninstalled when I upgraded to Win11.
My work laptop also tries to get me to use it, but if I'm working from home and enable OneDrive, the machine becomes so slow it's practically unusable.
At home I have a NAS for backup plus a removable disk drive for a further backup that is...
I should add that I bought am MS-4136-compatible NewHail TPM2.0 module. LPC 14Pin, Infineon SLB9665, firmware version 5.63.3353.0 dated 21st September 2016. Windows doesn't report a fault with the firmware like it reportedly does for modules with earlier firmware versions from 2013.
Well, it's installed and so far no stutter. It's always difficult or impossible to prove a negative, but so far so good.
I've run all my audio software and things like YT videos - no stutters or mouse hiccups.
And I have "Attestation: Ready" now.
I've only been using 11 for a couple of weeks, and one of the first things I did was switch the Start button to the left.
But reading this thread I might try it centred and see how I like it. I think I'm not going to like quick launch icons moving around though.
I'm just about to change over to a discrete TPM module - I'm hoping to fix the well-documented AMD fTPM stutter that is still a problem (audio stutter, intermittent mouse pauses) despite supposed fixes via BIOS updates.
Also, my 5900X / X570 machine doesn't support attestation, due to missing...
@Wisewiz Ah, shift needed! Thanks. Think I must have done Win+S, no wonder it didn't work.
Firefox definitely shows some odd behaviour in respect of scaling.
On my htpc (1080p) it doesn't scale webpages fully by itself, whereas it does do it on my kids' 'school' PC (which strangely also runs...
No, not in Full Screen mode. Monitor is 2560x1440
I tried snipping the menu but it disappears as soon as I click 'New Snip'! Give me a minute and I'll use my phone.
