OS
Windows 11
So I'm aware, from previous posts on here, that HP don't have an up to date graphics driver for Windows 11 and it needs updating to the latest Intel one or the screen keeps crashing.

On my recent install, I updated the graphics driver, opting for a "clean install" which Intel's program did. I've just checked and the driver has been replaced again! It should be one of the two below. Intel installed the one with 2025 on the end initially for Windows 11 and the one with 2015 on the end for Windows 10. After reinstalling again, I installed the 2025 one (top one) - Intel program installed it (and I opted for a clean install removing previous driver). Yet now it is showing the Microsoft one from 2020 again!

I'm guessing this is because I let Windows 11 upgrade from Windows 10 and in the process, it reverted to the Microsoft driver? I'll try installing the Intel one again.

You could always block the driver form being downloaded via windows update:
Download Windows Update MiniTool - MajorGeeks. Please not this will not prevent further updates to Windows or Drivers - only the problematic update/driver will be blocked from downloading to prevent the problems you’re experiencing.

Thank you. I've reinstalled the Intel one now and seems to have stayed put :-) I think it was upgrading to Windows 11 that reset the driver.

I thought driver updates for Gpu's were fairly regular, Although i've never updated or used my integrated one as its been turned off from day 1, I get nvidia driver updates maybe every 3 weeks or so give or take.

Don't seem to be for HP any more. But maybe because the machine was Windows 10 originally.

I have a 10th gen too. Although I do use my OEM support for most drivers, I always use Intel Driver & Support Assist tool for my graphics. That way there is no guessing. The tool installs drivers appropriate for my machine. I will say that Intel updates these drivers really often so I usually run the tool about once a month or so.

In all honesty, there probably isn't much to update on integrated gpu's of this kind, My driver updates for my card are purely gaming related 99% of the time so they are up to date regularly to keep in sync with release dates.

It is just a small increment of versions, not worth the bother. You will never detect the difference.

It is better to leave it to Windows updates, your HP hardware details are sent to MS. The one from Windows updates is lodged by HP.
If you don't believe me just go the Microsoft Update Catalogue and look manually.

A so-called clean install may miss some HP system stuff.

Intel integrated graphics updates are maybe 1 per year. Been using them for 10 years, no crashes or indeed any change just the version number.

Nvidia graphics for around 25 years, again new driver about once a year, despite around 12 per year being issued. Indeed if you look at the update notes 99.5% of the time there is nothing related for you, most are for the latest games go faster stripe.

It was necessary because it kept black screening playing videos. Someone suggested updating it to the latest Intel one and that did the trick :-)
