Hi my Friends.
I'm still using MSOffice 2007 with Outlook 2007 (Don't laugh) on my Desktop PC for multiple email accounts from my ISP.
Oulook works fine but unable to setup any Gmail email accounts that work.
Have tried many different settings in Outlook account setup as well as changed setting in each Gmail account on the Gmail, but nothing works so far.
In the near future I may convert all me email address to Gmail accounts as I will be leaving my ISP and will lose all my Cox email accounts after 90 days.

So I have multiple questions.
1. Does anyone have a step-by-step procedure that works for receiving and sending mail in Outlook for Gmail accounts?

2. If I cannot setup Gmail accounts in Outlook 2007, I will have to find a good mail program that will gather all the emails from all email accounts.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Gmail treats Outlook 2007 as an insecure app and blocks it. This should help -

Thunderbird 115 works a treat with Gmail, and handles multiple Gmail accounts easily. Several great threads here on customising and using Thunderbird. I don't know how well it handles accounts from several email servers. I have only Gmail on mine, and my wife has Gmail and a local ISP mail server, and both work perfectly. But multiples do complicate things for a mail client.

If you try it and have problems, the help forum is pretty good at producing answers:

I agree. Thunderbird is free, works fine with gmail, and I've used it for several people. But TB settings are not the easiest to navigate to get one's email set up exactly like they want it to be. But it is actively developed and used by millions of people

I manage 4 email accounts and was a longtime user of Office 2007, but had to use webmail for my gmail account. Like some others here, I finally took advantage of one of the deeply discounted offers for Office 2021 and it solved all my problems.

StackSocial (one of the sponsors of this forum) and gHacks has offered Ofc2021 Professional Plus licenses for as low as $34.99. When I bought it it was $59.99. Currently it is $69.99. They offer such deep discounts from time to time. Microsoft Office Lifetime License on Sale
Usually someone here posts when the deeper discounts are offered. People question the validity of such licenses but I purchased two in 2022 and have had no problems whatsoever with them.

Another option in Office 365 but it is a subscription option.

You can try Google Sync for Outlook tool, but I’ve only used that for gsuite setup back in the day.
You can go into your gmail, configure an app password and then configure it via imap in outlook using the app password instead

Thanks. I will checkout Thunderbird and see what happens.
I looked at Google SYNC but not worth the $$ as I just have a few accounts.
Downloading Thunderbird now. for a test drive.

I'm still using MSOffice 2007...

That isn't really very odd. I use Office 2007 on all of my PCs. I think my license will support up to six installations. I also have a old SubNote laptop that runs Windows 3.1 (40 MB hard drive) and has a full install of MS Office (when MS Draw existed). I don't remember the version, but it still works fine.

As far as Gmail accounts, I have several Yahoo and several Gmail accounts. I handle all of them From my Chrome browser. Only takes a couple of tabs that I leave open constantly. I use to use Thunderbird with POP3 access, with the email accounts I had with my GoDaddy hosting. But GoDaddy screwed me, so I moved my hosting and my email.

My old employer (retired 2011 after 35 years) use to push Outlook on everyone. But I never used it, so can't comment on it at all. They didn't even know they supported POP3 access, until I retired and closed my account.

There really is no need to stop using Outlook 2007. My wife uses it with her Gmail accounts and has done so for years without issues. I should have made it clear in my earlier post that the link I gave you in #2 contains the answer, which is to enable use of insecure apps in Gmail. Simple! If you stop using it you will lose access to your history of course.

Sorry I have tried again and no go.
The only thing I was unable to find on GMail is how to add a less secured app access to my email.

Here s how I setup my Outlook 2007 below:
Fails on Outgoing and Incoming.

Read Gmail messages on other email clients using POP

You can open your messages from Gmail in other mail clients that support POP, like Microsoft Outlook.

Step 1: Make sure POP is the best way to read your emails

IMAP and POP are both ways to read your Gmail messages in other email clients.
IMAP can be used across multiple devices. Emails are synced in real time.
POP can only be used for a single computer. Emails aren't synced in real time. Instead, they're downloaded and you decide how often you want to download new emails.

Step 2: Set up POP

First, set up POP in Gmail

  1. On your computer, open Gmail.
  2. In the top right, click Settings
    Settings
    and then
    See all settings.
  3. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  4. In the "POP download" section, select Enable POP for all mail or Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.
  5. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.

Next, make changes on your email client

Go to your client, like Microsoft Outlook, and check these settings.
Incoming Mail (POP) Serverpop.gmail.com
Requires SSL: Yes
Port: 995
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Serversmtp.gmail.com
Requires SSL: Yes
Requires TLS: Yes (if available)
Requires Authentication: Yes
Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
If you use Gmail with your work or school account
, check with your administrator for the correct SMTP configuration.

if you have MFA enabled, you'll have to turn that off to be able to enable less secure apps

I don't think you can find that on Gmail. It's on Google. Log into your Google account, and if you've turned OFF 2FA, you should be able to register a "less secure app."

Just FYI (and no help to the OP), but Gmail works very well with Outlook 365 app - both PC and Android apps.

No advice on Office 2007 as I've not used that since Office 2010, and on.
