22H2. Searching for and clicking local images opens old style print page.

W11 Pro x64 ongoing Canary 29500 latest builds
If I click any locally stored image (jpg, png, gif etc) directly then it opens as expected. No problem there.

If I search for the same image by typing the title of the image into the search box and then click from there, then it opens to what looks for all the world like the old style Vista print screen. What's going on...

This is a clean install of 22H2 with no defaults altered. An older 22H1 setup does not do this.

I've been trying to find answers to this and stumbled on this:

How might I go about making "Open" the default action for photos, instead of "Print" in Windows 11?

The problem is reported as being caused by the Clipchamp app and adding a registry key... well its all in the article. It seems to work anyhow. I can search for and open images correctly.

If I search from Start I get the old print screen. If I search from File Explorer it opens in Photos. Context menu is ok it's just the 'more options' that shows 'print' at the top and that opens the old print set-up.

That is what was happening for me and as I fairly often type the image name that I want into search it was annoying. Tbh I've never tried searching from file explorer (lol, just tried it now) and I see it works OK.

I've always printed from the apps but it's good to have the old print screen available.

Yes, perhaps so if you do a lot of printing. Again I tend to use the default print screens and its almost always for printing documents and not pictures.

An interesting issue. That MS link shows lots have had the issue.
