7 Zip


I use both Winrar and 7zip, 7zip more for its exceptional file encryption , need it also to install and package custom icon packs into .7z format.

Thing that gets me about 7zip is that in all the years it's been around, it STILL doesn't have a dark mode, not natively anyway.

Guess I'll hold off on my 7 Zip update for a couple days till some new Windows Security definition updates hopefully fix that false flag now. Becoming a hassle just to update my apps anymore.

I don't know anything about the other two devs, but Igor is known to use really old C++ compilers and avoid things, such as (back a few years ago), ASLR, NX bits, basically anything to with making code more secure, which is especially bad in C/C++ land. That kind of thing will get you flagged, regardless of whatever point you think you were making about nationality.

Defender also seems to be the one that's fu%king up a lot lately.

If you can't install your programs then what good is it...

Unless of course that's somehow deliberate by design... 🧐

Ah yes, conspiracy theorist again. Defender is messing up a lot, as in, twice? 7-Zip, Winaero thingy, and what else? The point is, since you need it spelled out, is that they all have false positives. Switching to another one just means you get some false positives from that one, sometimes, and that vendor will fix it, as Microsoft did in these two cases.
