It's not always in the cloud, if you have too many photos or other data. My daughter had that problem and she had way too much stuff for the free Google Drive account, the rest was lost.

I have 50 Gig of space on the cloud for my iPhone, it's .99 cents a month. I have hundreds of pictures, many apps, contacts, text messages, etc. and and I have only used 8.5 Gig. If she is on a Android, I don't know anything about them. When I recently upgraded my iPhone, everything was restored back to my new phone from the cloud just like on my old phone, nothing missing.

I'm going the opposite route. As of today, I use two different software products to do daily backups. One of them also does a daily off-site backup for me. This is partially because I'm ever so slightly losing faith in Macrium Reflect. I had a support issue recently that they were completely unable to resolve so that left a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Don't worry - my issue had nothing to do with data integrity at least. But it's making me realize that I should not blindly put faith in just a single solution.

For my most important data that changes day to day, I have three daily backups. Acronis True Image runs every day on my data drive, and also I have a scheduled task that uses Beyond Compare to do a file-by-file backup of the same drive. Finally, that drive is also mirrored on the MEGA cloud backup site.

My backup strategy is similar.

I work entirely from my local 1 Terabyte C: Drive and all my data and photos are kept in my OneDrive folder. I'm a Microsoft 365 subscriber which includes 1 Terabyte of OneDrive cloud storage. I have OneDrive set to mirror my local OneDrive folder; thus I always have all my work backed up throughout the day in real-time as I work. This is vitally important to me as I don't ever want to lose even a minute of anything I'm currently working on.

I make a Macrium Reflect image every night before shutting down, alternating between two 4TB Samsung T9 Portable SSD's each containing 7 rotating daily images. The image only takes about 5 minutes to make. This results in always having a full image of my drive going back every day for two weeks.

This results in having one backup always offsite and two backups being local.

Fully agree! My OneDrive cloud real-time mirror backup is obviously fully automated. My nightly Macrium Reflect backups are done every night before shutting down and have gone on so long that the pattern is ingrained in me. The T9 4TB Portable SSD's are only connected for the short time it takes to make the Macrium Reflect image.

Yep, those two drives are my insurance against all other disasters taking out all my on-line or connected backup capabilities. Last line of defense... :-)

I'm going the opposite route. As of today, I use two different software products to do daily backups. One of them also does a daily off-site backup for me. This is partially because I'm ever so slightly losing faith in Macrium Reflect. I had a support issue recently that they were completely unable to resolve so that left a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth. Don't worry - my issue had nothing to do with data integrity at least. But it's making me realize that I should not blindly put faith in just a single solution.

Good reason to make ( at least!) two backups with different software ( f.e. Macrium, AoMEI, etc)
If one fails the other might safe your data............ :wink:

When it comes to critical data, I only rely on 1/ FastCopy with its Verify Options that I use to let it calculate file hash codes and to let it write these file hash codes to a log file, and 2/ the FcHash.exe command line tool that it also comes with.

Software like Macrium, Aomei, Hasleo, Drive Snapshot, Acronis, etc. are useless to me excepting only to minimize the downtime that could occur when the system drive dies or when corruptions show up [in Windows and/or installed applications] such a way that corruptions cannot easily be repaired. For that, I only use the WinPE-based bootable Rescue Media of Acronis but I do not have any imaging software installed on Windows (except FTK Imager, but I don't use that for anything that could be related to what this whole discussion topic is about).
