A weird blank empty white box appears briefly after boot-up

I have exactly the same thing happen. Stays on for about 10 seconds and occasionally a second blank box appears.
As recommended I disabled the RunPlatformExperienceHelperOnUnlock in task scheduler. And that got rid of it. ...for now.

I rarely use chrome but if it comes back what is the current advice to do about it.

Thanks

Current consensus is to disable the task.
But Google could re-enable it at any point.
Personally, now that we know exactly what triggers it, I'm just going to let it be and wait for next month's update for Chrome

Turns out there are at least two different reasons for this to happen. Google Chrome installed some of their spyware without asking, and LG installed a monitor "utility" that apparently also served totally unrelated ads!

Thanks for reminding me about LG.

My computer is an ASUS zenbook, not an lg. Is it safe to assume chrome is at fault here? Disabling that task stopped the square appearing.

When the square first appeared I was concerned about a virus. So I ran a virus check which found nothing.

If you search the web for "RunPlatformExperienceHelperOnUnlock", there is lots of activity on the subject.
Many, many people are complaining about this exact issue and everyone agrees it's Google Chrome related.
And has nothing to do with which ever hardware vendor your computer is from.

Also, as previously mentioned, it's only on my tablette and not my desktop.
And the task in question does not exist on my desktop.
So, I suspect it has something to do with standy mode, which is usually not present or used on desktops.
It would explain why task might only exist on computers that can go into standby sleep mode.
