Personalization Add or Remove Settings Home page in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the Home page in Settings for all users in Windows 11.

Starting with Windows 11 version 22H2 KB5030310 Build 22621.2361, Microsoft is introduced a new homepage in Settings that offers you a dynamic and personalized experience. It provides an overview of your device, quick access to key settings, and helps manage your Microsoft account.

Microsoft created interactive cards that represent various device and account related settings, grouped by commonly accessed functions. Each card is optimized to offer the most relevant information and controls at your fingertips. In this release, you’ll see up to seven cards, with more coming soon.

Here’s an overview of each card:
  1. Recommended settings: This card adapts to your specific usage patterns, providing timely and relevant settings options. It’s designed to streamline your settings management and save you time.
  2. Cloud storage: Gives you an overview of your cloud storage use and lets you know when you’re nearing capacity.
  3. Account recovery: Helps keep your Microsoft account more secure by helping you add additional recovery info so you never get locked out of your account, even if you forget your password.
  4. Personalization: Brings customization to the forefront by offering one-click access to update your background theme or change your color mode.
  5. Microsoft 365: Provides a quick glimpse of your subscription status and benefits, along with the ability to take some key actions right in Settings instead of going to the web.
  6. Xbox: Similar to the Microsoft 365 card, you’ll be able to view your subscription status and manage the subscription from the Settings app.
  7. Bluetooth Devices: To simplify your Bluetooth device management experience, we’ve brought this to the forefront so you can quickly access and connect to your favorite Bluetooth-enabled devices.
You can take swift actions directly from this page with just a click, making device and account management seamless and efficient. What sets the homepage apart even further is that it’s more than just a landing page—it evolves and learns with you. As you use your device, it’ll adjust to provide the most relevant and useful information based on your usage and preferences.

Starting with Windows 11 build 22635.3500 (Beta), Microsoft is introducing a new Game Pass recommendation card on the Settings homepage. The Game Pass recommendation card on Settings Homepage will be shown to you if you actively play games on your PC. As a reminder – the Settings homepage will be shown only on the Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 and if you’re signed into Windows with your Microsoft account.

You must be signed in as an administrator to add or remove the Settings Home page.

This homepage experience in Settings will only be available on Windows 11 Home and Pro editions, and not on devices managed by organizations.

5 Double click/tap on the downloaded REG file to merge it.

6 When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.

7 If Settings is currently open, then close and reopen Settings (Win+i) to apply.

That's it,
Shawn Brink

Hello, :alien:

This will not add the Settings Home page feature if you didn't already have it available in a required build. This is mostly to remove it if wanted instead.

This is great. I posted on Reddit a similar tutorial if you have Windows 11 Pro, you can easily hide the Home section in Settings using Group Policy.

I would suggest any other approach as here, to first always make a System Restore check point first before altering internal settings such as that found in the Windows Registry. I do not recommend using 3rd party tools such as ViveTool or any other. Either Group Policy or careful modification of the Windows Registry is best and the most safest route so long as you make a system restore checkpoint prior when the system is in a fully functional working state.

8 Fans total. Rig sits on end of desk to the far right with a lot of space all around for extra cooling.
Just today I noted the changed settings method in my Windows 11 Pro 23H2 system.
As I did not note that before in 22H2, I think it was (in this case) introduced by one of the updates that I recently installed.

Because the Settings home page is repeatedly telling me I should take a MS account (which I don't intend to) that page for me is rather annoying. So I am very glad I found the description here to disable the home page.

Thank you, Shawn!

Hi Everyone,
I have somewhat of a different issue with the home page in that some of the items listed are incorrect such as my internet connection currently showing as 'not connected' but is currently actively connected. I just don't know how to reset the home page to display properly again. Has anyone else ran into this issue and if so how were you able to correct it, I'm enclosing a screenshot of what I'm currently seeing. Thanks in advance for any help that may get provided. On my original post I failed to add the version (23H2) & build # (22635.3350), sorry about that.

Hello. According to your data you have build 22635.3286. Maybe you should upgrade to 22635.3350?
Everything works on it, at least for me.
