This has been popping up randomly for a couple of weeks now and I'm associating with a few other weird stuff which seems to activate the shift key. Is this a Windows thing?20250504_212038.webp
WHEN TYPING (I didn't hold down a shift key there!) that happens randomly and the above "toolbar" will also pop up. I can't figure out IF IT's RELATED TO (see how it keeps doing it?) Win Update or another prog. It may be a faulty keyboard spitting out signals. I have been using a CORSAIR RGB keyboard with ICUE software which will not properly work either. But I've dumpeD that software but still happening. Right now I'm just hoping that someone will recognIZE the tool bar for identification and I can act on that before I redo Windows. Uggh!

FYI: I'm not "yelling" up there just wanted to show what's happening. Checked "Accessibility" settings and that's all turned off, too. If I hit the SHIFT key (not the CAPS button) it deactivates capitals until it wants to start again! Any insights would be appreciated. I'm just trying to avoid a fresh installation if I can bu isolating a problem you might recognize.

Thanks!

3915 is a Preview type update released on 25th April so did the problem start after that or before it? Just wondering if it is connected or not.

Can you try a different browser? I think it is an extension you installed unwittingly. Have you done an anti-malware scan?

I did check the Update and I do have the 3915 listed as installed on 4/28 or so which could be the problem. However, two things have happened since posting the original post. Firefox came up with an update that I did install and it wiped out all of my plugins, kelper! I reinstalled my Bitwarden PW only and it is working fine but none of the others I had is installed. But the thingy above is still appearing.

Since 3915 was the last recently installed (winganken), I'm going to roll that back first and see.

Finally, FreeBooter, I'll save your solution for the last attempt if 3915 rollback fails.

Thanks so much for all of your replies! Let's get to work . . . ;-)

To my helpful respondents FreeBooter, kelper and wiganken: Just wanted to thank you again. I have isolated the culprit! I have been a Wacom tablet user for years. After more careful thought inspired by you, I finally concluded that the toolbar with ctrl-alt-power button--et.al., showing up looked an awful lot like the buttons on top of my tablet--which I NEVER use. The tablet buttons are all black like the rest of the pad and the button section also serves as a cradle for the pen. They're virtually invisible! I just use the pen without buttons most of the time. After unplugging the tablet, it went away. Then I reinstalled Wacom's driver package and everything is back to normal. It just took soul searching to recognize that toolbar's composition and make the association.

If there's anything I can help YOU with, feel free to msg me. Thanks for your inputs.
