After last update of Adobe products, I cannot do a "Pin to Taskbar"

Windows 11 Pro, normal stuff, nothing on the box has changed...

I haven't needed to pin anything for probably a month, so I'm not sure WHAT broke it. BUT, I had to update Creative Cloud, wound up with new icons for the tools, and Windows no longer HAS the "pin to taskbar" in the context menu.

Went out searching, and found a couple really bizarre things - like reinstall Windows (NOT going to happen), and other equally undesirable options. I also found a thing that had me open the gpedit.msc then rummage around to find an entry to change whether or not the pin to taskbar was available. But the article says the change isn't persistent... In any case, it didn't work... Here's a screenshot.

Screenshot 2023-09-19 191749.jpg

I even found something that did a whole bunch of changes to the registry... That one didn't work at all.

SO, PRESUMING (always dangerous) that I haven't done something stupid, how do I get "Pin to Taskbar" back PERMANENTLY?

One more step is shown in that image in the list of settings for making changes described in that list "Edit policy setting", click the item to change then click the link in blue to get the choices. That link is red in my image because I had accessed it.

Don't have an answer to your issue, but did want to say, I think the title statement is more coincidental than then actual cause as I also updated my Creative Cloud apps - Photoshop, Lightroom, and Bridge on both my Windows 10 laptop and Windows 11 desktop. No issues here. In fact I just pinned Photoshop as the old version was removed per the update. Worked like a champ on both machines.

Perhaps something else you installed or maybe a site you visited caused the issues given the number of changes you say you found?

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I didn't mean to imply that it was the Adobe products, just that I hadn't needed to pin anything new for a while until I did the update. I don't know WHEN in the last month or so Windows decided to remove the "Pin to Taskbar". BUT, having it gone is a major PITA.

Berton, yes, when I click on the "do not allow pinning", I get a popup and can select enable or disable. I set it to Disable = which in MY head means if I DON'T disable it, I SHOULD be able to pin things to the taskbar. But, I'm still not seeing "Pin to Taskbar" in the context menu when I right-click Photoshop for example:

The choices panel can be a bit confusing in the actions available:

If you enable this setting, the "Pinned Programs" list is removed from the Start menu. Users cannot pin programs to the Start menu.

In Windows XP and Windows Vista, the Internet and email checkboxes are removed from the 'Customize Start Menu' dialog.

If you disable this setting or do not configure it, the "Pinned Programs" list remains on the Start menu. Users can pin and unpin programs in the Start Menu.

Now I'm confused... Am I supposed to ENABLE the "do not allow pin" entry to ALLOW me to pin? I currently have it DISABLED and I don't have any entry in the context menu (see above) to pin things to the taskbar... Can you clarify what I SHOULD be doing?

What does the reference to Windows XP and Vista mean?

I don't even have taskbar pinning configured and I can still pin 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, mine is already pinned so it would now say "Unpin from taskbar...

BTW, you should also be able to pin direct from the Start Menu by right clicking the app and choosing more....

In fact, just about any app in the Start menu should be pinnacle.

Anyway, if you can't figure out what caused your host of issues or still can't pin, you might consider a repair install - Repair Install Windows 11 with an In-place Upgrade Tutorial
