The quick and dirty way is to block all Windows Updates. Windows used to provide a list where you could pick and choose which you wanted to block and then hide them after ward. Somehow I can't find it in Win 11. Perhaps I'm clicking in the wrong places?

Here is an update on my monitor going black for a second or two once everyday. Since I built my new system I installed the latest Nvidia drivers for my GPU and when I upgraded to Win 11 this is when the monitor going black once or twice a day. I installed the GPU drivers a few times and evern did a clean install that removed any older drivers that might have been left.

I decided to not install the latest driver from Nvidia. instead I went to my GPU website and installed the drivers they had on their site and since them I have not had one issue with my monitors.. Fingers crossed it's been over a week and a half and my monitors have not went black once.

I recall having to do a similar thing years back on an EVGA 1070. The drivers from NVIDIA were wrong but the drivers from EVGA worked fine. Glad to hear the problem is solved. Looks like this thread can be marked "solved". (y)

Well I thought the issue was corrected but it has not. It isn't everyday once or twice a day anymore, now it is once every few days. I have changed cables, changed output ports on my GPU going to different monitors. I guess I will just have to put up with it until it fails totally and then I will have to figure out what failed. troubleshooting is not something that doesn't work. No need to reply, this is just an update I am not going to try any more possible solutions, I've tried everything.

I’ve concluded (for my dimming issues at least) that it is a windows 11 thing. I loaded a windows 10 image, used it for 2 days, not one monitor went dim. Loaded the windows 11 image back up, my monitors (6) randomly/alternatively dim for a few seconds or longer. My conclusion is … whatever 😕

WOW. I'm not getting this on my 1070 with Win11 and I hope I never do. I checked your hardware specs and they seem to be in order. I'm not at all familiar with the extreme performance CPU you're using but it does seem to be pointing to your GFX card. I don't know how much access to different hardware you have but if it were me I'd try a different monitor first, run it for a few days, and if the problem persisted I'd swap out the GFX card. It does look like the rest of your hardware has the graphics card outranked but this really shouldn't be happening all the same. Wishing you the very best.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.
Well it seems that the problem I started having after installing Windows 11 with both my monitors going black for a second or two everyday or two is a well known issue with Win 11. It's called the "Black Screen of death" now thinking if it would be better for me to do a fresh install and go back to my latest version of Windows 10?????

I fear someday the monitors will go black and stay black as they have for others, Any thoughts? You'd think MS would have addressed this issue by now but I guess not

I know the culprit, it's Win 11 I've done tons of researching and black screens is a common problem with Win 11

Just wanted to update this problem in my case. I sold all my old system parts since I built this new system no need for the old parts. When I sold them I told the guy that I would through in my old GPU but warned him that I kept getting a black screen once or twice a day that lasted a second or two so I didn't charge him anything for the GPU. GTX 1060 from Gigabyte

He used all my old parts including the GPU, he emailed me and said the refresh rate was set wrong and since he set it correctly he has never had a monitor screen go black.

Moral of the story, before buying a new GPU check your refresh rate if you have the monitor black screen issue.

( I wanted to buy a new more recent GPU anyway so this gave me a reason........lol )
