You can still use that method or ....try this method.

Step 1. Press “Win + X” to call out the power user menu. Then select “Command Prompt (Admin)” and allow it to take control of your PC.

Step 2. In the command prompt window, type “RD /S /Q %SystemDrive%\windows.old” and hit Enter. Then Windows.old folder will be deleted in Windows 10 without any obstacles.

Had to look that up. I don't recall ever using the RD (remove directory) command in the Windows command line. S switch is for subdirectories, Q for quiet (no prompts). Does it do anything differently from removing a folder from within Windows Explorer?

Disk cleanup is the Microsoft 'preferred' method. But whatever works for you.

Since I actually upgraded my existing Windows 10 install, even though I Have a full backup of the Win 10, I'm keeping mine. it's 24 GB (out of 1 TB). I'm not hurting for space, and I may want to revert (and moreover, test the revert process) to see if 1) it works, and 2) If it takes another #$%^$%^$#^ hour.....
