OS
Windows 11 Professional
Experience pack 1000, 22632.1000.0 installed (to 22H2 22610.1), and took with it my video card (allegedly). Now shows basic microsoft video, 8 bit, one monitor only. Attempts to fix by windows update (30.0.21001.1004) gives message: "install error 0x800f0248". Attempts to use "update driver" at device manager are unsuccessful because, there is no device to update except microsoft basic video. Attempts to use AMD software have not worked. Tried downland and install of 22.4.1, 22.4.2, "installation failed". Same with AMD fix tool for 22.4.2 (including "reset to factory"). Have, of course, restarted many times.
Do not see mechanism to roll back the windows update (it looks like it is incompatible with AMD or RX 580, and perhaps with its own 'fix', 30.0.21001.1004).
Similar happened couple months ago (with March large update?), Windows came out with fix in few days.
Suggestions?

This may have been self-inflicted, back in March. Windows was dead-set to install a video driver (no options to not install), I searched for how to stop it. Seem to remember using group policy editor to disable installation. So now, in device manager, it eventually showed the radeon rx580, with an exclamation point. Tried to update driver, was unsuccessful. Looked at explanation, said that installation was forbidden by policy. Went back into group templates, found the one 'shutout' that was enabled, disabled, updated again, my monitors came back. Same thing responsible, I guess, for the failed AMD software installations. I did not think I was stopping video driver installation, just video driver installation by Microsoft.
Still not sure about the 22610.1. We'll see.

DDU sets the right section where it blocks auto installation of video driver via Windows Update, but you can still install third-party-from-the-manufacturer drivers. I never had an issue with Windows blocking all video drivers.

With AMD, the right way is to use DDU and set the option to block installation via Windows Update, then remove the driver, so you're down to the basic display driver, then get the right driver from AMD's web site.

DDU=Display Driver Uninstaller (The legit web site is wagnardsoft. com, IIRC)

Yes, that is what happened, because the vast majority of the fixes provided to prevent Windows Update from installing a driver update apply to that driver and all subsequent drivers. I myself, make use of this because I'd rather install 3rd party drivers myself, for all my devices, instead of letting WU handle it.
