Yes im having this issue. The fans on my monster front flow comp case go crazy for no apparent reason
But when i start the task manager it goes very quite. The difference in volume is huge
Am i mining bitcoin or what? I only have Win Defender and recently i scanned the comp with Malwarebytes and that killed some PUPs, so there is no obvious culprit

  1. When did this problem start?
  2. When your in task manager, is there a significant amount of cpu or ram being used? What is using it?
  3. Since this is a built yourself pc, have you tried adjusting fan speeds in the bios?
  4. Have you tried updating the bios?
  5. Are all of your fans spinning?

I got this pc about half a year ago... its been very noisy from the start... its second hand so probably the fans need replacing... only in the last few weeks did i notice the task manger trick... i didnt do any bios stuff... yes all the fans are spinning
I cant tell if a certain program is causing it... there is a huge cacophony of programs appearing and disappearing (not in the apps section obv)... and by the time i get to the performance tab its all flat

You can adjust the fan speed in BIOS. In modern motherboards you can set the temperature threshold where the fans speed up. You can also set the speed to lower than maximum unless another higher temperature threshold is reached. I would also consider to blow dust with an air spray or blower and even replace the thermal paste between the CPU and the fan with fresh. Back when I was young and inexperienced I didn't know what thermal paste was for, so I removed it entirely and of course I had huge temperatures. I hope you didn't so the same mistake...

Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.
